Jazz Cafe - Berkeley
Jazz Cafe
Description
The restaurant in question is a cozy, hidden gem in downtown Berkeley that offers a variety of menu options and excellent daily specials. The staff is known for being super friendly and the food is top-notch, with highlights including swordfish salad, grilled goat cheese salad, and hearty stews. While some customers may find the no laptops policy during lunch hours off-putting, others appreciate the laid-back, old-timey vibe of the cafe. Even though the cafe no longer hosts live jazz performances, it remains a great spot to relax with a good cup of coffee or enjoy a delicious meal before a show at the nearby Berkeley Rep. Overall, despite a few minor issues with management and service, the cafe seems to be a popular choice among regular patrons for its quality food, friendly staff, and charming ambiance.

No bathroom available for clients apparently, got asked to leave one hour before declared closing time. Was empty when we went in at 4:30…probably for a reason
The interior design is terrific with the velvet rope curtain, the huge orange arch and the colorful mural. The food is also very good and they serve the best lattes. It's the best kept secret downtown. Always delicious food. Don't miss out on the daily specials.
My regular go-to at least once a week. Can't beat the super nice staff, great owner and great quality food. Lots of menu options with an excellent specials menu that changes every day and always includes a vegetarian soup, a panini, a salad and a stew. The protein choices offered are amazingly varied. I really enjoyed the swordfish salad. I often get the grilled goat cheese salad. Had a stew last week, and it was perfectly thick, chunky and full of flavor.
