Great little German store restaurant in the middle of Downtown Berkeley. Pretzel was simple and served with a housemade honey mustard, little sweet, little spice. Spaetzle was on point for its traditional texture and flavor, which paired beautifuly with the mushroom rague. Based on one visit. The first thing I have to say is that if I lived close by I would be dropping in just for a beer every now and then particularly when...
We came here as a nod to the food we'd eaten while stationed in Germany many moons ago. We all had the schnitzel and we split a potato salad and a salad....
Came here based on the Yelp reviews. We were in search of good German food after being disappointed with the schnitzel and spatzel of another place a couple...
I started with the cheese and salami platter as an appetizer, followed by the pork cutlet while my friend enjoyed the Schnitzel. I also had a full Stein of beer, which was fantastic. The portions were large and the food was delicious. I also enjoyed the traditional German outfits worn by the staff. The atmosphere inside was not too formal and the people were friendly. Overall, a great experience - I will definitely be returning.
We went to this restaurant to celebrate my Dad's birthday with a German meal, and ended up making some new friends and discovering a definite place to revisit in the future. The food was delicious and satisfying, with perfect portion sizes. We particularly enjoyed the traditional breads. Our server, Anna, was very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. I had a mishap with my Dad's cake on the way to the restaurant, but the owner (whose name I unfortunately did not get) fixed it for me and saved the day! The food and people here are wonderful. I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself.
