Reviews - Caffe Chiave
Reviews summary
Caffe Chiave presents a charming atmosphere with ample seating and a delightful selection of baked goods. Many patrons rave about the fantastic coffee and scrumptious breakfast sandwiches, particularly appreciating the vibrant outdoor space. However, experiences vary; some coffee drinks have been criticized for their overwhelming sweetness or overly hot temperatures. Service is described as friendly yet occasionally slow, and parking may pose a challenge. Overall, while the cafe shines in its offerings and cozy vibe, inconsistencies in beverage quality and service may affect repeat visits. A spot worth trying, especially for those nearby, but manage expectations.

I was having my car serviced just a few blocks away and decided to stop by for a mocha while enjoying the sunshine at one of their outdoor tables. The coffee was fantastic! If I'm in the area and in the mood for coffee, I will definitely return to this place. View all feedback.
What Ozella Hagenes dislikes about Caffe Chiave:
Cute little place and the baked goods look super tasty! Didn't try them, bought an iced latte and honestly? Not a hit. Its so sweet and only tastes like milk.. no coffee. Probably won't revisit since the service wasn't very friendly either during ordering. View all feedback.

Caffe Chiave is a spacious and inviting spot ideal for grabbing a coffee and a light breakfast. The owners maintain a lovely atmosphere filled with fresh air, which is appreciated by those looking to take home their goodies. While Trieste may have departed from Berkeley, the friendly smiles at the counter live on.

A cozy spot for breakfast and coffee. It has a lot of charm and plenty of seating available. The baked goods are delicious, and the coffee is excellent. The service was a bit slow, but the staff was friendly and helpful. Parking can be a challenge at times, but that's just part of being in Berkeley!
Have them make you a breakfast sandwich on an English muffin with egg, ham, mozzarella and pesto. It is the bee's knees. I had mine with a beer which is one of the reasons why I love this place so much.

No masks on staff, no masks on patrons. Food sitting out uncovered, other patrons breathing unmasked within 1ft of my coffee, also uncovered on the bar. Only one open door to the outside, a risk to everyone's health.
This was our first time there. We enjoyed our breakfast. The food was good, hot, and the portions were generous as well as reasonably priced.
They were playing cool, 1950s jazz on the sound system. The staff are helpful and the food is great.
I had an amazing experience! The mocha I enjoyed today was the best I've ever had, and the tasty breakfast was just what I needed!

Located on a retail strip known as the Left Bank in a neighborhood known as the Poet’s Corner (because the streets named for poets include Bonar, Browning, Byron, Chaucer, Cowper, Edwards, and Poe), this coffeehouse was once a branch of San Francisco’s famous North Beach Caffe Trieste. A family feud brought on the name change.
