All the ingredients are so fresh and tasteful. It was a great choice! The white soup with a piece of yuzu skin was nice, too.
We have been here in 2019 pre covid. this was a very cool and tasty experience. plus the owner is a basketball fan and my height is 200 m(6'5 so that helped : also the owners wife came out with a translation device to ask various questions as did we. very fun time :D
Oh my god! If you are in Beppu this is a must-see! The owners are super friendly and the sushi is incredible. My favourite was the octopus nigiri, which was just perfecty served. The consistency was simply a dream and I nearly shed tears of happiness because of the taste. If you want to eat immensly good sushi at a reasonable price and experience amicable hosts, Owada is the place to be! PS: They even gave me an umbrella because it rained and I didn't have one with me
I’m sad to rate this place so low, because I hoped that it would be good but that’s really my experience. The meal was very overpriced. The aji we had was very expensive and poorly cut it felt like the chef just chopped it up and put it on the plate. The sushi set was a better value, but even then, the chef was very rushed and the nigiri were poorly executed. The service was rushed, and honestly, I felt made fun of at times for just asking for something. This is my 12th time to Japan, so it’s not that I’m getting culture shock here. I think the reason why it’s 1 and not 2 stars, is because the hygiene was concerning. Because the chef is rushed, the counter space is an absolute mess. His kitchen towels were dirty as well. 1 star avoid, overly touristy spot that has poor price performance.
