We went to this restaurant for the first time last night, and what can I say? We were all pleasantly surprised. There were five of us, including a newborn. The place is very intimate, we felt at home. The guys and the owner were so sweet and impeccable, both in their service and courtesy, and in small touches like serving the women first. The quality and presentation of the food was immediately clear, and it was on another level. Everything was truly exquisite. It was a super pleasant experience, and I will definitely be back.
The Japanese food experience isn 't just the food: it 's the presentation, the humility, the warmth of the experience, the attention to detail and respect. If it was just about the food I 'd rate this restaurant higher than I have because I know from experience that the chef, who is Japanese, cares about what he 's doing. Unfortunately he 's working for someone who must seem to the chef the equivalent of a Barbarian who has invaded his world of cuisine because he knows more than the next guy. I 've actually never met a restauranteur who is more arrogant and less hospitable than any restauranteur I 've ever met. I 've been eating Japanese food longer that this guy has been alive. I 'm not presenting myself as an authority, but just a customer who has experience and absolutely loves the Japanese food experience. When I asked the restauranteur if he had shiro maguro toro he told me with an air of disgust that he doesn 't deal with cheap fish. Shiro maguro toro in San Francisco California is anything buy cheap, but I am well aware that the Japanese of Japan don 't hold albacore tuna in high regard. His objective was to make me feel small for asking for something I consider to be a good dining experience. No one, in my entire life, has ever tried to humiliate me just because I 've asked for a particular type of food at a restaurant. To pour salt on the wound I noticed that he double charged me for my order. He charged me 50 euros for a tiny bowl of tuna over rice. The listed rate for the dish without the rise was almost half. I didn 't say a word to him. I 've saved those words for this review. Here 's my suggestion: if you love sushi and you live in Benevento AND if you have the wherewithal to open your own restaurant, hire this guy 's chef and treat your customers with respect. You 'll put this guy out of business overnight. Look, if I was reading the body language of those who work for this guy, they 'll all bolt in a second for a better opportunity. I went out for an evening with friends to have a good time, and this guy did everything imaginable to make the dining experience the exact opposite of what we expected in a Japanese restaurant. Eat there at your own risk. We paid 200 euros for the equivalent of a 45 euro gastronomic experience while subjecting ourselves to the restauranteur from hell.
