Lovely spot, nice decor, stunning sea views in pretty old fishing harbour. Good quality food, if a little pricey. Friendly waitresses.
The restaurant is beautifully situated and expensive. Which would be fine if the food and service were better. The fish of the day was €75/kilo, which they said would serve 4, so we ordered it for me and 3 of my kids. When it came, the fish was OK, but the portions were small, served on cold plates with barely enough poorly-cooked veg for two and potatoes in the style of packaged crisps! My wife’s prawns were OK, but over-priced and my daughter’s Ceaser salad a joke. We complained about the small portions and poor value for money. I asked to see the manager who came over and, rather than apologising and asking what she could do to make things better, argued with us at increasing volume. She said we should come to the kitchen to see how well they cooked the food and, when we declined, went and fetched the fishmonger’s bill to prove that the fish was a reasonable price! In the end we gave up and left, with no concession from the manageress, who was absolutely dreadful. Give this place a wide birth.
Walking along the coastal walk in the mornings, Sa Tuna is an excellent location to stop and take a coffee before returning up the hill back to town. From time to time, our group optimistically stops at this place to order coffees and whatever else necessary to give us strength before continuing. And for good reason because it is faces the cala so the views are excellent. And I’d have to say that regularly we receive such bad service that I remember for the next year or so why I should never return. The service is completely lacking, to the point of overly rude. A few days ago I suffered it again, and on this occasion am minded to leave a review. On arrival, I sit down knowing full well what I want to order but the waitress walks past, drops the menu and continues on so fast I am unable to order the cafe americano and agua sin gas before she is out of earshot. She then goes and talks to who I assume is the manager, ten meters away from me, and forgets my existence. After about five minutes, I decide a bit of a hand wave is necessary to grab attention. The manager looks at me as I (politely) give a wave of the hand to indicate I am ready to order and even though though he clearly sees me he looks through me like I am wearing Harry Potter’s Cloak of Invisibility. At this point, I am starting to feel most unwanted. They keep talking then they break up and go their separate ways, but neither in my direction. Bear in mind the place was close to empty. So, I wait a few minutes more and then decide enough is enough and I go the bar facing the plaza which was full of people taking teas, coffees and breakfast items with cheerful and efficient waitresses attending to everyone including my accompanying dog (water in bowl served before I needed to ask). It reminds me, again, why I should never stop off at Hotel Sa Tuna, not for a simple coffee and definitely never entrust them with a meal. When the staff are so inefficient and rude, clearly there is a problem. Luckily there are options that deserve your attention go to them and reward them instead of suffering the worst of bad service at places which clearly see you as a walking Euro symbol they have to suffer.
Exceptional service and food. All 3 courses superbly prepared and presented. Location couldn’t be better. Would highly recommend restaurant and their hotel.
Various review on different platforms seem to say plenty about this properly, but they would i suppose. Restaurant is part of a hotel on Sa Tuna Cala. Serves mainly fish, so without a doubt, order fish. Mixed review, some of the dishes were excellent and some of the dishes i felt were either frozen or rushed. Starter wise, had a selection and the patato bravus were frozen and nowhere near as good as what you can get, sauces were a little odd in flavor as well. One of us had fish and chips, came cold in the middle (presume it had been frozen and microwaved. Red snapper was excellent and came as a whole fish. Tomato and tuna salad ordered but never came. Breads were excellent. Service at this restaurant is excellent with all the staff tentative and full of smiles, so a huge plus. Think it is a family run business and rub well from that perspective. A little more and this place could be really good.
