What Jocelyn M doesn't like about Boriken:
The food was very greasy and not too special for us. The pork mofongo was dried and didn't seem to be slow cooked as advertised. The appetizers were so so too. It's pretty expensive for the food quality. I'm glad that I tried this Porto Rican restaurant for curiosity, but definitely not coming back. The good side is that they have free parking. Excellent. I love how the beautiful dish of food had so many different flavors and spices in it, and how generous the portions were. Family business! Means a lot as our family runs a 30-year-old local business. The owner came by and explained the types of food and answered my questions happy. I will be back!
It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the interior is well decorated. Parking on the side. We all had the Mofongo and enjoyed it very much. We will return.
I had lunch. When I was from Florida, I was delighted to find a Puerto Rican restaurant. The food was fresh, hot and the service was fast. The maize fritters and fried plantains were great. The Cuban and Rock Steak sandwiches were perfect. Be ready to eat a good amount of food. Condiments were great (would love to see banan ketchup too! The staff was friendly, the business was clean, and although it is able to find a little hard to find (you can easily miss it TV car, this place makes for a great little hiding place. You can enjoy the atmosphere and food by using bamboo to protect the business and the terrace from traffic. I would definitely recommend it to everyone who enjoys the Caribbean fare.
Cosy and warm atmosphere and delicious food. Service was great, I came in a little under an hour before closing, and they were still quite packed, but they tried their best to put us and served as soon as possible. The Tostones were so good with a great crisp and amazing garlic sauce. Also ordered a mofongo that made for a very delicious meal. I didn't know this place existed until I accidentally stumbled over it while I was looking for a place to eat a late night. Will surely tell my friends about it because I had a very pleasant culinary experience.
What a wonderful meal! The Pina Coladas were perfect, the Maduros and Papas Rellenas were delicious, and the Churrasco was fantastically tender with flavorful beans and yellow rice. The coconut pudding made the ideal cherry on top for our meal. Our only gripe is that my girlfriend's Pechuga Al Ajillo was pretty dry. We'll be back to try out everything we didn't on the first go!
