Description

Cooks@Corrigans presents a dining experience that ranges from delightful to disappointing. While many patrons rave about the delicious food and inviting atmosphere, others express frustration over service lapses and inconsistencies in meal preparation. Signature dishes like the fried coconut lime prawns garner praise, yet some diners were let down by side choices and overcooked steaks. Communication issues also mar the experience, particularly concerning menu options and drink orders. Overall, while the venue's ambiance is celebrated and certain meals shine, there's notable room for improvement in service and consistency, leaving some guests hesitant to return.

I have been waiting decades for the opportunity to dine at a bonafide Kitchen Nightmares establishment, and I must say, the experience certainly did not disappoint. While the service was passable, the meals our group payed top dollar for left us stopping by Macca's on the way home. From gristly, flavourless stake, overcooked dry fish and a salty oily salad to a $20 dish providing four frozen prawns, some loose spinach leaf and inedible rice drowned in cream, this restaurant finally had me fulfilling my Gordon Ramsay dream of picking apart a meal rather than eating it. I can promise you won't have to worry about serving size, as no-one in our group was able to fully finish their meal. Even when washing it down with sub-par, watery cocktails, the only true highlight was the complimentary table water. With an overall cost of over $200 for the group (not budgeting for being well overcharged for the wine), this meal was truly a once in a lifetime experience (I hope). We were not informed during the booking or upon arrival that there was a set menu for the evening — $69 for two courses and around $80 for three. I only found out when I overheard another patron discussing it. After l finding a table and sitting for about ten minutes, we began to wonder how to order drinks. My husband went to the bar to ask, and one of the staff members mentioned that someone would be over to take our order. When she finally came, we asked for a drink menu, and she responded, "Don't you have one?" Clearly, we did not. We finally received our drinks, and while the cocktail was perfect, it came without a straw, and we didn’t feel like asking for one. When it came time to order our meals, we chose the chicken pieces and bruschetta, which were both delicious — though we did watch as the chef mistakenly took our order to three different tables before finally serving us. It shouldn’t have been that difficult to identify us as table seven. When it was time to order our mains, the options were steak with Kilpatrick oysters, chicken breast with seafood, or risotto. Since we don’t eat seafood, we asked the waitress if the chef could provide an alternative topping. She replied that she didn’t think so, but I requested that she ask him, as we would have to leave without another option. Eventually, the chef offered us pepper gravy as a substitute. Honestly, couldn’t they have quickly prepared something like tomato and onion? They could’ve even used the bruschetta mix! When our meals arrived, the gravy was missing, and we had to ask for it again. The steak was tough, the chicken was dry, and it was served with cold rice and two pieces of cold broccolini. My husband ordered dessert since he was still hungry after the main course. In the end, we each had only one drink, and the bill came to just under $200. We will not be returning and will advise others to steer clear. Service: Dine in Meal Type: Dinner Price per person: A$80–100 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

**Dining Experience**: Dine-In **Meal Type**: Other **Price Range per Person**: A$80–100 **Food**: 4/5 **Service**: 3/5 **Atmosphere**: 4/5 I recently dined at this restaurant and found the overall experience quite enjoyable. The food was impressive, earning a solid 4 out of 5. Each dish was flavorful and well-prepared, showcasing a good variety of options. The service, however, was a bit of a mixed bag, scoring 3 out of 5. While the staff was friendly, there were moments where attentiveness seemed to lag, impacting the overall flow of the meal. On the other hand, the atmosphere was delightful—4 out of 5. The setting was inviting and pleasant, making it a nice place to relax and enjoy the evening. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and I would recommend it for those looking to enjoy good food in a lovely atmosphere, albeit with some room for improvement in service.
