While the employee making my sandwich seemed aware of the food's unappealing state, they did not attempt to replace the contaminated items. To make matters worse, my sandwich was made incorrectly, with an excessive amount of pickles and mayonnaise. I was willing to overlook these issues until I learned that they could only accept cash, despite the associates rudely pointing out that there were signs on the door indicating this. Adding to my frustration, the quoted price for a meal was over $20, which felt exorbitant. As I walked back to my car to get cash, I reflected on the numerous red flags I'd encountered—dirty conditions, unhelpful staff, and questionable food safety—which ultimately led me to decide against dining there and opt for the Subway in North Conway, NH instead. While enjoying my meal with a friend outside, William Shaw, who I later learned is the manager, approached me and stated, “I take it you are not coming back for your sandwich.” I agreed, and he then told me not to return. He proceeded to discuss the situation with the other associate in front of everyone, and I felt compelled to go inside and share my concerns. Upon speaking with another employee at the North Conway location, I discovered this wasn’t the first complaint about this particular manager or the establishment's cleanliness. When William came back inside while I was talking to the employee, I asked to speak with a manager, only to find out that he himself was the manager. I was taken aback. Instead of confronting him further, I decided to reach out to corporate. Throughout this time, he remained confrontational and took pictures of me without my consent. My friend attempted to help by looking for corporate contact information, prompting him to come out and redirect her to Google the number instead. This incident is not an isolated case; there have been multiple complaints regarding both the cleanliness of the establishment and the pricing, especially considering my meal at the North Conway store was only about $14, a significant difference. I believe urgent action is needed because, after this experience, my friends and I will not be returning to any Subway locations until these issues are addressed. It's a tough time for businesses, but that doesn’t excuse tarnishing Subway's reputation any further.

Went at opening at 9am as posted both on Google and the Subway restaurant. Just trying to get a sandwich to have for lunch later while skiing, and waited for 20 minutes for them to open. There was an employee inside still preparing to open but at some point retreated to the back and didn’t come back out after seeing us waiting. Understandable to need a few extra minutes to finish prepping to open, but 20 minutes late is unacceptable. Food: 1
