**Dining at Dolphin: A Mixed Experience in Cape Cod** Dolphin, a staple dining spot in Barnstable, Cape Cod, offers a warm atmosphere and friendly service, but guest experiences vary widely. While many rave about expertly prepared dishes like scallop casserole and fresh swordfish, others find the food inconsistent, with overcooked steaks and bland clam chowder. The ambiance is described as classic New England, though some feel it's outdated and geared towards an older crowd. Service remains a highlight, although instances of slow delivery and unusual gratuity practices have raised eyebrows. Overall, Dolphin promises memorable meals for those willing to invest a bit more.
This is a fantastic restaurant with exceptional service. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Cape for the first time, just like I did. I thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp and cod cakes; I'd never tried them before, but this was definitely the best place to find them. The prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is overall delightful.
If you're visiting Barnstable in Cape Cod, this restaurant is a must-try. Be prepared to spend a bit more than typical family restaurants, but the quality of the food makes it worth the price. Both times I've been here, the service has been outstanding and the meals were incredible. It’s definitely worth every penny. This lovely spot is perfect for a nice meal and some relaxation. You can't go wrong with any fish dish you choose.
The steak was overcooked. Prices are way overpriced for the food that you get there was a lobster corn meal. Could not taste the lobster. Again scalps or perfectly, but there was no taste of Lobster at all. Service was great. And my drink unfortunately was made wrong. They mixed the Baileys with a different kind of vodka and a coagulated, it was like drinking cottage cheese.
We've found the Dolphin to be a reliable choice for lunch. The food is typically good, prices are fair, and the service is quick. However, the decor feels a bit outdated, and the dining room has a dark and gloomy atmosphere. The men's restroom seems to be from a bygone era.
We were kind of late on Sunday after our whale watching. We arrived at 8:20 they stop serving at 8:30 but they let us in. I had a delicious Scallops and Risotto meal and my sister had the half chicken that literally fell apart from being so tender. We had homemade bread and a salad too. Very good and fast meal.
