Mainely Meat Barbeque - Bar Harbor

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in harbor bar. I expected to eat incredible seafood throughout the trip, but was very disappointed that the selection at red lobster was more impressive than many of the restaurants we visited. on the last day, however, we found mainely meat and I was transported immediately to meat utopia. the pulled boar and the ribs were brilliant! I've never had anything better! all over the place was eating the staff and eating out. I can't expect to come back.

It's heavily seasoned, dry rub barbecue, so it won't be to everyone's taste. But the meats are long smoked and incredibly tender, the place draws a great crowd, the staff is very eager to please, the price is right and the beer is fabulous!

I am from the South where we know Pork BBQ and brag about it BUT I must say what Steve Douglas pulls from his smoker is close to the best not only pork ribs pulled I have ever put in my mouth but the beans, corn, sausage and side sauces are also great.The grilled smoked chicken wings are the best I have ever had... If you are in Bar Harbor on a Saturday in season you should not miss the all-you-can-eat Big Feed . Not only is the price right $15ish) but the atmosphere is without equal. On the site of Atlantic Brewing that invented the first and still the best Blueberry Ale, and the best selling beer on the island Real Ale it also makes a fantastic old fashion Root Beer which Mainely Meat makes a dreamy Root Beer Float... Don 't miss this gem!

Mainly meats is casual, friendly, the service and staff excellent! The ribs tender and delicious, falls right of the bone!!! Sit outside and enjoy the weather with a cold beer. Rick, thank you for all your advice, every place you recommended was amazing! Best time I've had in a long time!

When our food finally arrived, my sandwich had over a quarter of it made up of fat—it was quite unappetizing. The combination of poor service and disappointing food has led us to decide not to return. My advice? Save your money and seek out some local cuisine elsewhere—perhaps some delicious lobster!
