Black Friar Inn - Bar Harbor

In 2022, our experience at Black Friar was terrible. Despite this, we decided to give it another try in 2023 based on our positive experiences in the past. And we're so glad we did because it was amazing! Skylar, our bartender, made the most delicious mixed drinks and had an impressive knowledge of proper cocktails. The food was fantastic and the wait staff, especially Allie, was exceptional.

We enjoyed the delicious oysters and cocktails at this restaurant. The small, tender oysters were perfectly sweet. Happy hour is the perfect time to try them out. Just make sure to arrive early as the bar is quite small.

We stayed at the inn for five days and booked the cozy Stained Glass room, perfect for a couple. Our stay included breakfast every morning with a full menu to choose from. We highly recommend trying the Benedicts and blueberry pancakes. We also dined at the restaurant multiple times and found their dinner menu to be very good, with creative rotating specials. Chef Steve is amazing and the rest of the staff were extremely nice. The location is convenient as we were able to leave our car and walk to everything in Bar Harbor. We can't wait to return.
