Beware of anywhere that makes you pay and tip before they've got the food ready... Settled on a halibut and chips, but it was so old that it was indistinguishable Soggy fish and chips in a greasy little box... undercooked chips which were maybe single-blanched... left the majority of it in my truck box overnight and as of 3 days later, the crows were not interested or brave enough to eat any of it... Absolutely THE BEST halibut and chips I’ve had! The pieces didn’t sound very plentiful when server described it but the large portion of fish was BIG! So much fish, the perfect amount of batter, and cooked to perfection. It’s a shame you’re over 2 hours away from home or we’d be regulars!
Without a doubt this place serves the best deep fried halibut I've ever eaten. Halibut is a pricey fish but they serve nice sized portions at a reasonable price. Their fries are great as well. The owners have been in the business a good while and know how to prep and cook fish and fries! The other choices are great too. I love the smelt ! Place is small but adequate. Eat there almost every time in Bancroft, Ontario!
The best fish and chips I've had in a while. Staff is very friendly. Homemade french fries and coleslaw. The fish was battered perfectly, and very fresh. Pet friendly outside at picnic benches Gorgeous view of Eagles Nest from the front of the restaurant.
Food was top notch. Service was second to none. Dining area was clean, inviting and very charming. The view of the river behind was excellent.
Cod loin was amazing. And the staff super nice. Loved the coleslaw. Will definitely be returning in the future to try the world famous chowder:
