Nowhere in the entire city of Belleville, is there a fish and chips restaurant that even comes close to "For The Halibut" in Bancroft. We have NO problem driving 1-1/2 hours (pleasant drive) to Bancroft for the first rate fish and chips these people put out. Looking forward to my next instalment. You had better get there soon as the current owner is retiring and has the store up for sale. Who knows what a new owner wi... View all feedback.

The reviews I do not agree with all of them. We went for dinner at 5 yesterday. We placed our order,15 min.later the power went out. I was a little concerned with I noticed the "For Sale Sign" on the building but the restaurant is still open & functional. We had the Haddock fish & chips. The french fries are made from real potatoes and were crispy & very good. We shared a bowl of coleslaw which was creamy & good as well. We also tried the tartar sauce made in-house instead of the package available on the table. It was a nice meal. The restaurant is across the street from some awesome cliffs. Great backdrop!!
Portion size of fish is good, very yummy but may be too deep fried. Salad was okay but portion is good. Cozy homey environment.
Wonderful spot for fish and chips. Real fresh halibut and good size portions. Would recommend halibut, fries and for appetizer the smelts or chowder.Beautiful view of look out across road. They now accept debit verses just cash!Friendly small town service and always busy with locals. Only negative is coffee is per cup instead of bottomless.

I ask for another glass of water she look miserable about it, brought me back warm water with no ice this time. Prices to high for the food. Fish was not hot they let it sit out for 10 min.wondering if the power went back on. Cherry cheese cake was good.Would not go back.
