Jumon offers a vibrant atmosphere paired with an enticing Asian fusion vegetarian and vegan menu. While some diners rave about standout dishes like the Malaka Laksa and unique cocktails, others express disappointment over salty and undercooked meals, raising concerns about value for money. The prices can be steep for the portion sizes, prompting mixed feelings about the overall experience. Despite friendly service, the loud environment may hinder enjoyment. Ultimately, Jumon shines for its innovative dishes and fresh ingredients, but could enhance its culinary consistency to make every visit memorable.
Note that this restaurant does not serve meat on its menu. the server is very beautiful and accommodating. eating is good, unique with also good portions. is recommended for vegans. 4* just as for me, I think that the location must be updated. service 5* and food flavour quality i will give 4.5*
This restaurant is a gem. It is a fully vegan establishment offering tapas-style plates with Asian flavors. The food is both delicious and creatively presented, with friendly staff to top it off. Don't miss out on the amazing desserts, like the delectable apple vegan pie with ice cream. The menu is conveniently divided into small and large plates, making it easy to try a variety of dishes. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore plant-based cuisine.
We ate dinner here during a visit to Belfast. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and there are plenty of vegan options on the menu (most things are). Some of the dishes are quite spicy, but you can ask the staff to find out which are the spicy and not-so-spicy ones!
Jumon is well-liked in Belfast and is the only veggie place open for dinner in the city center. Asian food is my favorite cuisine and I'm a little fussy about it I guess. I just felt Jumon wasn't all that. We ordered a laksa and a rice dish (forgot the name of the latter). The laksa was not a traditional laksa soup at all but rather a type of thick curry sauce (like a katsu) topped with exactly 4 blocks of tofu, 4 pieces of thinly sliced eggplant and zucchini, and not much else but a bed of noodles for nearly 20 quid. The rice dish was plated similarly. I couldn't detect much in the way of Asian spices in them. The dumplings starter was pretty good though and actually my favorite item ordered. Overall, the food had nice flavors, but it just didn't hugely impress me and imo, not really good value for money. If you like hipster places with creative cocktails though, you'll probably like it. Really detailed dishes. Reminds me a bit of fine dining with lots of tiny, tasty, colourful components. We had a small plate each as a starter and a large plate each as a main. I had the nori starter. It was like hot sushi. Really unusual and tasty. My jackfruit curry was tasty and more filling than I expected. The jackfruit was in with the rice and then the sauce was served on the side. Lovely to get tofu as well as jackfruit. The pickled lychees were a lovely contrast. Lots of vegan options to try. We found the acoustics noisy and hard to chat. I remember this previously but thought a Monday night would be quiet but it was nearly full. Great to see so many people enjoying meat free meals!
