the elk room is a hidden gem! I knew about it, but it was my first time. Eating is spectacular, but drinks are from another university. strongest drinks but at the same time smooth and very tasty. service was great. our server was knowledgeable and helpful. will definitely go back because there is much more to experience. you have to try fushun amber. Found this when I searched dive bar on Yelp. Could not be more opposite. It's snoooty patooty. Bartender gave us the halt sign when we moved towards an empty bar to sit for a drink. Then when my husband joined after a stop in the restroom he snipped at him to go back to hostess. The hostess was consistently MIA and since when can't you grab a stool at an empty bar? He was stressed mixing complicated cocktails. Why, o... View all feedback.
I rated the drinks a 4 and the food and service a 5. Our experience was fantastic; the server took great care of us and answered our questions patiently. As for the food, we loved the truffle fries—they were incredibly crispy and tasted delicious.
Great mood, good eating, good drinks. I enjoyed the environment and the ambiente of the place. it has a long waiting time, but it is worth it. the food and drinks are expensive, but for such a place to expect! would definitely recommend for a date or celebration.
Super classy upscale establishment. Only had 1 cocktail since I was in a rush. Chupacabra. Well made even though I think bartender is fairly new, didn't know where some of the ingredients were. I will be back for a full experience in the next couple of weeks.
Elk Room is a bar we've heard recommended for a long time. I can see why since the ambiance is extremely elaborate and unique. We walked in without a reservation and had to wait an hour or so for a table. Service was particularly slow, but I believe they were down on staff that night, so I don't think that is normal for them. We tried the Fiji Mermaid, Passion Pit, Falcon Punch, and Hemlock. Passion Pit was my favorite drink. Fiji Mermaid and Falcon Punch were decent, but didn't blow either of us away. The Hemlock wasn't the most balanced and had to be sipped slowly to allow the ice to melt and tone down the intensity. If you've got a strong palate though, you'd probably enjoy it. The vibe here is really nice though for an evening out with friends. If you visit the Elk Room, you definitely want to make a reservation in advance or just call ahead to get on the wait-list before you grab dinner. All-in-all, you'll have an interesting night of flavour combinations, but you may or may not love all of them. Worth checking out if you're into cocktails.
Overall, my experience was quite disappointing. I enjoyed the thrill of locating the hidden speakeasy and appreciated the lively atmosphere along with our server's service. However, the Mario Brothers-themed menu felt out of place with the setting, and the drinks seemed overly complicated. As someone familiar with cocktails, I found the inclusion of numerous obscure ingredients made it challenging to recognize what I was ordering, and it was tough to anticipate what flavors to expect. In a good cocktail bar, choosing which drink to try first is usually a delightful dilemma, but here, I struggled to find any I was excited about. We ordered a couple of items from the menu; one was enjoyable, while the other was just okay. We also tried a few off-menu recommendations from our server, along with some classic cocktails we know and like. However, I was let down when they served drinks with standard restaurant-grade ice instead of the more refined ice shapes typically expected in a cocktail setting, like solid blocks or crushed ice. Although we had a decent time—especially after three rounds—I can't see us returning.
