Salt Tavern, located in Baltimore, offers upscale contemporary American cuisine with continental inspiration in a charming and relaxing setting. Start with their grilled Spanish rock octopus with tomatillo salsa and green chorizo sausage or the crispy risotto croquette with Bolognese sauce and mozzarella. For entrees, try the roasted half chicken with morel mushrooms and chicken jus, the grilled 20 oz. Creekstone Farm ribeye with mustard giardiniera and homemade steak sauce, or the pan seared scallops with butter and crispy pork belly. Finish your meal with one of their creative desserts, such as the lavender goat cheese donuts with coffee ice cream or the s'mores with toasted homemade marshmallows, graham cracker crumbs, and chocolate ice cream. The wagyu sliders are incredible, and the Korean fried wings are simply outstanding!
The food and atmosphere are fantastic! I highly recommend the steak slider (just a heads up, it only comes with one slider, so if you plan to share, be sure to order more). The cocktails were good, but not particularly extraordinary.
This was my second visit, and I really enjoy this place. When we first arrived, the hostess was genuinely nice and welcoming. We chose to sit at the bar since we were only there for drinks, and I have to say, the cocktails I had were fantastic. We will definitely be returning, as the food looks delicious as well.
The staff are friendly and they hustle. Good service. The food was pretty good, but a few dishes disappointed. Dessert was not a strong point: grapefruit tart was strange and under the greenish lighting it took on an unfortunate color. Eggplant was an excellent small plate, as was the tuna. The white bean hummus with golden raisins was bland. Reasonable wine selection.
The cocktails are always pleasant, the menu items take unique twists on traditional favorites, but the reason this place always gets 5 stars from me is the duck fat fries. They are hands down the best fry I've ever had in my life.
