I also ordered the whiting platter, which included shrimp, potato salad, and yams. The yams were extremely sweet, while the potato salad was creamy. The fish itself was well-seasoned. One thing to note is that it's difficult to get assistance, as they don’t answer the phone. If you decide to order, I recommend using a service like Grubhub or DoorDash so you have customer support available if needed.
I make an effort to support Black-owned businesses, but my experience at this restaurant wasn't great. I really love soul food, and unfortunately, this place didn’t deliver on that front. My daughter enjoyed it during her first visit, but my experience was quite different. The restaurant is very small, with only one table inside, and it was quite hot. I paid and waited for our food while two young men took care of us, but I was surprised to see the two women who worked there leave for a trip to the beauty supply store. Given the small size of the establishment, I guess it’s understandable, but it was still unexpected. I’m not sure I would make the hour-long drive to give this place another try.
The crab biscuits are not homemade; they’re just Pillsbury biscuits with crab meat. The mac and cheese isn’t good either. The meat was extremely salty, almost like it was past its prime. Everything tasted store-bought.
First time trying the England Eatery.. I’ll give it 5 stars.. very flavorful and seasoned just right. I had the stuffed salmon with macaroni collard greens. My salmon was cooked exactly the way I like it. Nice size portions, they definitely hooked me up on the macaroni. I’ll definitely be back to try their turkey wings, colossal shrimp, and to get me some salmon again. Plus their black owned!!! I also like that you can text them instead of calling.
