Coleman's - Ballyclare
Coleman's
Description
Coleman's garden center café evokes mixed reviews, balancing promise with pitfalls. While some patrons appreciate the diverse atmosphere and commendable service, particularly from attentive staff, many express disappointment over the food quality. Breakfast options, like the all-day breakfast and soured avocado toast, fell short of expectations, while miscommunications regarding orders left some diners frustrated. Nevertheless, highlights such as the praised seafood chowder and a delightful afternoon tea show potential. The café could benefit from clearer menu transitions and better execution of dishes. Overall, it’s a place that needs refinement but shows glimpses of a rewarding dining experience.

Wonderful food and coffee, as well as fantastic customer service; today we were told that they were 1 chef down during our visit and they were apologetic for any wait times that might occur as a result. Despite this, our food and drinks came out fairly quickly, and we received a free refill of our coffee to apologise for the wait time (despite the fact we weren't inconvenienced by any means). It was so lovely of them to do this, and the staff have always been delightful any other time I've visited
My friend and I enjoyed the different shops a lot, so much choice. The cafe/restaurant was a different story a nightmare. Waited ages on a table (not particularly busy 2pm ish), service so slow and disorganised. My garden platter was freezing, the scotch egg centre was frozen and other items too. Disgusting and l complained. Eventually they waived the bill but I'll never be back, ruined a lovely afternoon. These kids they've took on need proper training and management.
My friend and I had Christmas lunch together with a group of about 40 people from our church. The food and service were excellent and a surprise hot chocolate and mince pie rounded it off nicely. Then had time to look round the retail and garden centre with a ten percent off card! Very good visit
We call in here for breakfast most times we fly to NI to visit family I can really recommend the breakfast stack to set you on your way. Delicious!
My mother, aunt and uncle visited Coleman's last week and never got round half of it so I took her up today so she could see everything. The outside is very deceptive as it has an abundance of shops within the premises. I always go to Menarys to see their Christmas decorations and was pleasantly surprised that they had a sale on so came away with a few stand alone ones and a hot water bottle. There is a lot of merchandise for such a small space which was evident when they were unboxing products. We stopped in at the cafe. You have to stand at the front to be seated. Lovely staff who kindly assisted my mum as she has walking aids. Loved my toastie and my mum must have loved her all day fry judging by the empty plate. It got really busy around 12.30 so I can understand the suggested 1 hour table stay. Quite a variety of food beverages and treat choices although charging 40p for a small soya serving of milk with my tea was a little excessive. Might look for a compromise there? Clean throughout and would recommend a visit if you were in the area.
