Description

Despite its prime location, the restaurant fails to impress. With limited menu options and rude staff, diners are left disappointed. The atmosphere lacks social distancing enforcement, cleanliness, and responsible service, leaving much to be desired. While the pub may have potential to improve, for now it might only suffice for a quick meal if you're not up for cooking. On the upside, the bar does offer great views of Ballinskelligs Bay and quick service. For a more pleasant experience dining out, it might be best to explore other options in the area.

This is a bar only, no food, although you can get pizzas etc across the road and bring them in. Choice of beer on tap is very limited. The main reason to visit is to sit outside on a sunny day and enjoy the view.

Arrived on wednesday afternoon. All advertising says there is food… there is no food available here. And bartender was very rude. Avoid. Much better places to go to around here.

What a wasted opportunity! With such a location this place could do so much more... It really does not honour the man who was nicknamed Cable O 'Leary . As this is the only sit-in place for dinner in the village, it was full with people staying at self-accommodation in the area, some of them as rude as the view is nice, and the staff appeared completely overwhelmed. After being told there would be a 40 min wait for food, a member of staff managed to clear a table for us, just to witness a family barge in from the outside seating area and plonk themselves at that same table! Such rudeness we had never experienced in a civilised environment. And the only reaction from the staff was to apologise. Nothing else! They were clearly lost and we were really not amused. Another table was cleared a minute later and we manage to sit. However a glance at the menu showed that there was nothing appetising, and looking at other tables the food looked bland, freshly defrosted and prepared in a hurry. In this Covid-19 summer, signs were displayed for entry and exit , but they were not very visible and most people blatantly ignored them; children and teenagers were also running wild all over the place. Social distancing was virtually unheard of. People at some tables had evidently been consuming alcohol only, as they had 3-4 empty pints per person on the table, with not the smallest indication that they had had any food at all. Their drunken behaviour also confirmed it, them appearing ruder and louder than some soberer-looking other patrons. Having been ignored for the next 10 min, we decided to walk out, and by the looks of it our absence might not have been noticed for a good while. Great location, wonderful views over Ballinskelligs bay, but overall a total fail. Only good to fill your belly if you don 't want to cook at home and you 're not into quality.

Delighted they are back doing food. The new awning out the back is fantastic. Fingers crossed for a savage summer!
