I ordered a medium plate that came with co... read more I drove an hour and a half to try the whole hog BBQ at this place. I arrived just before lunch, so there was no wait. I ordered a medium plate that came with coleslaw and cornbread. The BBQ was tasty, but it was served lukewarm, and I think it would have been much better if it had been hot. The coleslaw was good and had a nice sweetness to it. The cornbread, however, was absolutely fantastic and was actually my favorite part of the meal. If they hadn't gotten busy, I would have gone back in to buy a whole chicken to take home. Since they have a James Beard award, I had high expectations for the pork.

The pork was juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor, enhanced by a generous portion of crispy skin. I particularly enjoyed the hearty cornbread and the simple yet tasty coleslaw. The service was excellent as well. My only drawback was the limited variety of side dishes; I would have loved to see mac and cheese offered to accompany the meal.

You simply line up to place your order, then you have the option to enjoy your meal on-site or take it home. It's also accessible for people with disabilities, and the staff is friendly, which adds to the overall enjoyment. The food is genuinely mouthwatering. I highly recommend it!

They have a vinegar and pepper-based sauce available, but honestly, the pork is so rich in flavor that any sauce would just compete with its amazing taste. It’s a little off the interstate, but definitely worth the trip! Their beans are exceptional as well. We couldn’t resist trying a slice of their pineapple cake, which was fantastic!
