We had a fantastic experience at Casa Luciano. The quality of the food was truly exceptional, and the service was just as good—warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. The restaurant has a charming old-school atmosphere, very much in the style of traditional Spanish restaurants from the 60s–70s. Although it has clearly been renovated over time, it still preserves that authentic “old Spain” feel. The cuisine is simple and traditional, no modern fusion or overly complex dishes, but that’s exactly the point. It’s classic Andalusian home-style cooking, based on outstanding raw ingredients, especially seafood from the Huelva coast. We originally came hoping to try coquinas (small local clams typical of Huelva and nearby Algarve), but they weren’t available that day. Instead, we had the Huelva prawns, which were absolutely incredible—juicy, full of flavor, and of exceptional quality. We also tried cod cocochas in pil-pil sauce, a dish more typical of northern Spain, and it was beautifully executed. The highlight of the meal was definitely the sole. It was huge (more than enough for two people), incredibly fresh, and perfectly prepared in a very simple way that really let the quality of the fish shine. It was served with vegetables and potatoes, all equally delicious. For dessert, we had an almond tart and turrón ice cream with brandy (a seasonal Easter specialty), which was excellent as well. Even though it wasn’t homemade, it matched the overall level of the meal. What really makes this place stand out is the value for money. For example, such a large and high-quality sole for two people at around €35 is remarkable, especially compared to similar restaurants elsewhere in Europe. If you’re looking for modern, trendy cuisine, this isn’t the place. But if you want authentic, traditional food made with top-quality ingredients, Casa Luciano is absolutely worth visiting.
