The restaurant offers a range of delicious Tex-Mex and traditional Mexican dishes along with Central American options in a relaxed, family-owned setting. The salsa is particularly praised, with the homemade award-winning salsa being a highlight. The margaritas are tasty, and the bar and covered patio provide a pleasant dining experience. The ambiance is described as organic and genuine, offering a break from the typical Tex-Mex scene. The menu features unique dishes like chicken enchiladas with pipian sauce and has garnered a loyal following among locals. Overall, it's a hidden gem worth exploring for its authentic flavors and inviting atmosphere that make it a favorite among diners.
The food was great! It had been a while since I last visited (pre-COVID), but I enjoyed it. The guacamole was, as always, delicious, and the veggie enchiladas were quite tasty; you could really taste the fresh vegetables in them. I was initially concerned about the refried beans because they were so good that I assumed they must contain milk, but when I asked, they confirmed that they only used oil. They were absolutely delicious! The service was provided by a friendly young woman, but another coworker loudly mentioned that she would inform our waitress when we asked for assistance, which made me feel like they might not share tips here.
Fantastic restaurant! The food and drinks are delicious, the staff is friendly, and the patio is a lovely space to enjoy a meal. We always have a great time dining here. Just a quick note: if you're looking for Tex-Mex cuisine, this isn't the place for you. The menu focuses more on authentic Mexican dishes rather than Tex-Mex.
As I sifted through the menu, I took my first bite of the chips and salsa and was instantly impressed. The chips were hot, fresh, and crispy, while the salsa offered a delightful mix of fleeting heat and flavorful spice—definitely among the best I’ve ever had. I ordered the 1816 margarita, named after the restaurant's address. It featured a simple yet effective blend of 1800 Reposado tequila, lime juice, and Grand Marnier—absolutely fantastic. I'm a big fan of chicken enchiladas verdes, typically made with a green tomatillo sauce, but I noticed a similar option featuring a "pipian sauce" made from pumpkin seeds. Out of curiosity, I asked Sandy for a taste, and she kindly brought some out in a salsa cup. It was very tasty and unlike anything I’ve tried before, pairing wonderfully with the chips. I ended up ordering the chicken enchiladas with pipian sauce, accompanied by refried beans and rice. Everything was terrific—the enchiladas were delicious, the beans were perfectly prepared, and the rice was fresh and moist. And then came the flan. Yum! Sometimes, you inadvertently make the right turn at the right moment and stumble upon a hidden gem while making a new friend. I usually find myself stuck in a Tex-Mex routine (which is tasty, but still a routine), so it was refreshing to enjoy something more traditional from interior Mexico. I highly recommend this place. See you again soon, Sandy!
The tacos, rice and beans were superb. Really delicious. the place smelled like someone dumped a bottle of fabuloso on the floor and just left it. the cleaning chemicals were too strong to sit down so I took the order to go. so good tho.
