Lamberts - Austin
Lamberts
Description
This restaurant offers a mixed experience, with some diners finding the food and service exceptional while others were underwhelmed. The brisket and pork ribs were highlights for many, but some found the sides lacking in flavor and consistency. The atmosphere was lively and popular, with standout dishes including the Chipotle queso and the fried pickles. However, some customers experienced issues with the temperature of their food and the attentiveness of their server. Despite these drawbacks, most diners praised the quality of the meats and the unique flavors offered. Ultimately, the restaurant seems to have the potential for a great dining experience, especially for meat lovers and those seeking a vibrant atmosphere.

The food at Lambert's was okay at best. The brisket was dry and rough and the broccoli seemed under cooked and had a weird smokiness to it. The fried pickles were excellent though. The four stars was really for the service. Our server Riley wasexcellent, providing just the right level of attention, getting everything spot on, and having a friendly and welcomingpersonality.
We visited because someone gave us a gift certificate. From the very entrance, the smell was enticing. We started with a queso appetizer with burnt ends. The chips were quite heavy but the queso was tasty. My wife and I split the brisket plate with sidesof beans and potato salad. The brisket was incredibly tender, but I wish they had not added cracked pepper. The beans wereso-so, but the potato salad was delicious. Sadly, and we’re wondering if it’s just a downtown thing or not, but our serverseemed dismissive of us. Even our attempts to make eye contact and engage her in conversation failed to slow her down. All inall, it was good food, but too pricey for what was delivered uncaringly.
Lambert’s is pricier than your typical BBQ fare, but you get what you pay for, with an upscale interior, good service and excellent food with some quality sides that you won’t find at Franklin’s or Terry Black’s. The brisket was excellent, moist and with a good bark. They serve two kinds of ribs, one basted with a sauce and one with dry rub we had the saucedvariety, which had great flavor. The smoked sausage was also good. They also sell their own dry rub for meat, and in the past Ihave enjoyed a fair amount of success using it on my home grilling efforts.
It was a good Texas BBQ, but not great. I sat at the bar, and I was served, but I was not treated as a guest. I received a great recommendation to go here, but it was just average.
Had queso burnt end chips 8/10 (not enough meat Wagyu short rib 10/10 (literally melted in my mouth, ruined future barbecue for me… Mac and cheese 3/10 (very al dente and not cooked fully, almost soupy like texture We had tax exempt forms and our server and manager was very nice and understanding.
