Description

Jeffrey's Restaurant & Bar, a renowned Austin establishment since 1975, underwent a major renovation in 2012 before reopening under McGuire Moorman Lambert Hospitality. Nestled in the Clarksville neighborhood, just west of downtown, this legendary restaurant boasts a vibrant bar and three distinct dining rooms. Executive chef Mark McCain offers a menu featuring dry-aged prime steaks, classic fine dining dishes with a modern twist, and locally sourced produce. The extensive wine list includes highly sought-after vintages from both Old and New World producers, making it one of the largest and most diverse in Texas. For special events, private dining options are available in the Napoleon Room and The Apartment, and valet service is provided. With its charming neighborhood setting, impeccable service, and multiple private dining options, Jeffrey's is a true gem of Austin. Honored as one of the "Top 10 Best New Restaurants" in the country by Bon Appetit magazine in 2013.

Cocktails and wine were excellent. We had truffled deviled eggs, croquettes, creamed spinach gratin, all were excellent. The dover sole Veronique had a funny taste, didn’t like it. For dessert we had a floating island: very interesting mix of flavors!

What a wonderful place for a long, relax dinner where conversation flows freely. I thought Jeffrey’s was going to be overly pretentious, old school, or classic American. I was wrong. Impeccable attentive service and ambiance, menu is a good mix ofinventive plates and more classic steak house options. It’s not cheap, but 100% it’s a great place for an intimatecelebration.

Nice meal overall. It's the quintessential fine dining experience with execellent service. Most of the dishes met our expectations, but we were let down by the creamed spinach. Maybe we were unlucky that night, but it was obvious to both of usthat it was made with frozen spinach and was extremely bland.

Wow! My first time at Jeffrey’s and it did not disappoint. We didn’t eat on this occasion (though the food looked amazing! but came for cocktails wine. They had the classics, a great selection of wines, but more importantly, were eager torecommend (and not in the way that prompts you to buy only the most expensive . We ordered a custom cocktail (Red Lion and thestaff couldn’t have been happier to oblige Becca, our sever, was outstanding! Friendly, knowledgeable, and couldn’t havetried any harder to guide or recommend. Will absolutely come back for the food; but honestly feel this is the best bar in Austin unexpected for sure, but so well deserved because of the whole team, but especially Becca

Rib eye was perfect. Mashed potatoes were super creamy without being runny. They were probably the richest potatoes I’ve ever had. If you said the potato to butter ratio was 50/50 I wouldn’t argue. Mushrooms were good quality, but not how I like mymushrooms finished. There were no crusted bits, they were more so steamed. The lobster bisque was good. The creme fraiche madethe soup a cooler temp than I prefer. They give you one good chunk of lobster, but not worth the price point IMO. If you likepopovers or Yorkshire pudding, you’ll love their version which includes ricotta and crunchy flavorful topping. Also, theysaid they were renting these Doe deer antlers. Wish we found out for how much!
