I have tried many sandwiches in my life, from Austin to New Orleans, and this Shrimp Poboy is one of the best I've ever had! The shrimp was plentiful and crispy, the bread was not your typical baguette, and the sauce was exceptional and completely unique. I even let my 2 year old daughter try it, and she practically finished it for me. She also had some Mac and Cheese.
Alright, I know this may sound cliché, but trust me on this one - I never usually write reviews. However, I just had to share my experience with the incredible crawfish étouffée at Jacque Bella's. It was hands down the best I've ever had in my entire life. I was actually at The Thicket food truck park for a bahn mi, but decided to grab some étouffée from Jacque Bella for later. And let me tell you, even when I finally ate it the next day, it was still the most delicious étouffée I've ever tasted. Plus, it only cost me $10 for a large portion, which is unheard of in Austin. I'm not sure if the person who took my order was the owner or a staff member, but they were incredibly kind. Definitely give them a try and trust me, you won't be disappointed. A definite winner for dinner. 12/10.
I recently had the best gumbo I've had around Austin in a long time at this restaurant. The red beans and rice were exceptional, and the shrimp was also delicious.
My husband ordered the fried shrimp po-boy and we also got some seasoned curly fries (we asked for them super mild so our 3yo could share) and it was all to die for! The po-boy came on a huge square of French bread, with crisp lettuce and just the right amount of what tasted like a spicy mayo or tartar sauce of some kind.. I'm a wuss with spicy food but it was delicious--if you like heat then this is right up your alley! Plus, as someone who is picky with their seafood, i noticed the shrimp were cooked to perfection, and not rubbery, fishy, or vein-y at all. The gentleman running the truck was very kind--the customer service was excellent AND the food was terrific. We will be back for sure!
