This vibrant restaurant has garnered a mix of opinions from patrons, showcasing both its strengths and weaknesses. While the birria tacos receive consistent praise for their flavor and authenticity, some diners have expressed disappointment with certain desserts and their overall flavor profiles. A standout feature is the elote, which receives commendation for its delightful taste, paired with unique chili powder that adds a special touch. However, discrepancies in pricing and potential service delays due to staffing are noted. Overall, this eatery offers a home-style dining experience that invites both excitement and caution from its visitors.

This restaurant reminds me of home. I'm not sure who is giving it a low rating, but they must not be from the northern region of Mexico lol! The snacks are awesome and the elote is great. I love their liquid chili powder, it's a game changer. The staff is nice, although sometimes it can take a bit longer because they get busy and are short staffed, but it is worth the wait. What Deanna Davis dislikes about Hay Elotes:
So disappointed. Ordered a mangonada and a mangolicious. The mangonada was essentially flavorless. The sorbet just tasted like sugar, the chamoy was bland, and there were no mangos or tajin. The mangolicious was similar, just pure sugar and no flavor. I can't comment on the savory dishes, but I would not recommend the desserts. View all feedback.
The food was all right but the way they have the people waiting is not a good place and it's really crowded!!

I never thought it would be possible to have a BLAND “mangonada”. I have never tasted flavorless chamoy until this place. Mangonadas are supposed to have mango slices, tajin, and some lime juice to create a sweet semi-spicy drink. This place had neither. They should change the name of the mangonada to “Mango smoothie”. DO BETTER!
The corn was extremely tough, making it difficult to chew, while the apple with chamoy was not fresh. The strawberries with cream were too watery, and the lemon ice cream was just average. I usually don't write reviews, but I definitely won't be returning to this restaurant.
The restaurant offers an incredible variety of desserts, with the waffle cone standing out as a particularly amazing choice. I spontaneously decided to visit and it turned out to be the best decision I could have made. Every dessert I tried was absolutely delicious, and I highly recommend trying them out for yourself.
