Next time, I think I’ll choose a different venue to celebrate my birthday where I can truly enjoy the occasion. The food quality was mediocre at best, with the main courses being particularly underwhelming. I ordered the short rib, and it was so over-salted that it was almost inedible. Others at my table shared the same sentiment. I ended up taking it home to pair with rice later in an attempt to tone down the saltiness. Overall, the experience—from the food quality to the service—was highly disappointing, especially given this restaurant’s good reputation. The only positive aspect of Eberly is its atmosphere, which includes a lovely garden room that we weren’t able to book. It seems better suited for a more intimate dinner for two. Additionally, be aware that a 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill, and they do offer complimentary valet parking.

**Pros:** 1. The ambiance is lovely with many unique seating areas. 2. Our server was excellent—attentive without being intrusive. 3. I was pleased to order a delightful off-menu cocktail. 4. The starter arrived promptly, and the timing between courses was just right. 5. The food was generally very good. The rolls were amazing, the salmon was quite tasty, the chicken was decent, and the Brussels sprouts were pretty good (some pieces were a bit large, but they were cooked well). The special dessert they provided—blueberry pound cake—was truly delicious. 6. The complimentary valet service made it easy to arrive and depart. 7. I especially appreciated that our server wanted to do something special for our anniversary. She asked if we would prefer champagne or a dessert, considering we had already ordered dessert and I was only having one drink since I was driving. **Cons:** 1. Despite the cozy seating options, we were seated right behind the host stand by the front door, even though it was early, we had a reservation, and it was a special occasion. This was probably the worst table in the restaurant (though I did enjoy people-watching as they entered). 2. The restaurant was overly air-conditioned, so be sure to bring a wrap. 3. It was on the pricey side. I'm all for splurging on a nice meal, but the experience wasn't exceptional enough to justify returning at that cost. 4. The chocolate mousse was not actually a mousse—more like a crumble—and it did not taste good. I really love chocolate, so this was disappointing.

We were pleasantly surprised when the restaurant surprised my wife with a small birthday treat that wasn't even on the menu. We still had room for dessert, and the seasonal rhubarb pudding was absolutely incredible! We can't wait to come back. Also, be sure to grab a drink at the historic bar, which was brought all the way from Manhattan, NYC!

The service and staff at this restaurant are commendable—very professional and never pushy. However, the drinks are considerably better than the food, which sadly does not live up to expectations. The dishes are overly seasoned, and we learned upon arrival that there is a new head chef, which is intriguing, but it seems like they haven’t quite mastered the use of salt yet. To be honest, I came in with low expectations, and the menu felt rather uninspired. While the presentation of the meals is visually appealing, I question whether the ingredients truly enhance the flavors and if they work well together. Are the line cooks executing their tasks correctly? For instance, my pasta was undercooked. There’s a lot of improvement needed to match the beautiful interior and ambiance that this place provides. I’m not likely to return for the food anytime soon. In fact, the photos I took turned out better than the actual dishes.

Overall, we enjoyed our time at the restaurant. The food was enjoyable, though not outstanding. The drinks were quite impressive, albeit a bit pricey. The atmosphere was definitely the standout feature of the venue. The service was reliable, and the complimentary valet parking was a lovely bonus. Although we had high expectations for the meal, we were somewhat let down by the quality of the food. A few small tweaks could have really improved our experience. Nevertheless, we would still consider returning, especially with out-of-town visitors, since the setting and photo opportunities are excellent. It truly embodies the unique spirit of Austin.
