What Gesa Holz dislikes about August:
for a restaurant that is so self-confidence unsafe that it does not even make effort to public requests on its Instagram page, we expected a bit more...we loved the building, but the ambiente, complete with the master chef who is so arrogant anti-social that it was. to visit him the tables of the guests (or to ban God, see them in the eyes) etc. missing. most important was, although some dishes were very interesting... For a restaurant that is so self-confidence unsafe that it does not even make effort to public requests on its Instagram page, we expected a bit more...we loved the building, but the ambiente, complete with the master chef who is so arrogant anti-social that it was. to visit him the tables of the guests (or to ban God, see them in the eyes) etc. missing. most important was, although some dishes were very interesting and/or delicious, for this price class it was a little disappointing.
As others have highlighted, the place is quite impressive, old villa accessible via a dark garden, dracula could pop at any time. there are 6 tabs. it is conceptual with bright glasstic, among which a sequence of amuse bouche and other object that. visually it is great, but taste falls short for a 2 star michael. the personal is unfriendly and it is lacking the professionalism that they would expect from a place with 2 stars. weinliste is amazingly short, but the choice is pleasant and not too pricy. 900 euro for 3 with the crying. overall a beautiful experience, but I would not recommend if this was first solidified restaurant. I think 2 statistics are overrated.
Very beautiful location in an old villa with a very beautiful interieur, which is integrated into the food presentation and serving. very good service, eat extremely well with perfect aromas suitable. very appreciated the champagne aperitivo and the sarg on the balcony. but we must say that dinner is too long, all in all more than four hours! but worth an experience!
That is the power of the Michelin star system, we arranged a night stay in augsburg expressly for dinner in the restaurant august. the evening was fun and enjoyable, and some of the courses were flavored intensively, but it falls short what we have... rated by michelin stars to expect restaurants from a series of reasons. but first the good points: august is housed in a spectacular 19c industrial house. the many (and there are many courses on the set menu are presented imaginatiw and kreatiw: their table is a glass light box, through which they see a presentation 'signs', where many of the amuses bouches are displayed. after each, the drawer is pulled out to access the next. many are served on broken porcelain sheer (no sharp edges! that sounds strange, but somehow it worked. the first frustration, however, was in the choice of wine: no wee fly suggestions, even no wee at the glass, so you can choose from a weeping list without knowing exactly what to feed with. what we have ordered was good, although many paints our glasses with the bottle were left empty from the rich. (we have the impression that the staff was more interested in enjoying the theatrical performance of the roaming extractive cook than to solve our needs. secondly, while many of the courses were flavored intensively, many were missing fines or were unbalanced, one or two were served in too large part, others were simply subduing. one or two came with certain directions to eat the whole thing in a mouthful, which was an instruction for a particularly rich and buttery dish that I wish I would ignore. Thirdly, the glass table arrangement began to take a surreal and clearly inconspicuous character: gradually, instead of seeing food through the glass plate, they were instead shown to carrot peel or fish skin, the abortion from what was eaten above. Finally, it may seem hard to give only three trip advisor points to a michelin 2-star restaurant, but ultimately it is on quality compared to the value for money. we were in very many Michelin star restaurants (indeed, only in the night before we enjoyed an excellent meal at a star in heidelberg, but unfortunately restaurant august is not with them.
Having enjoyed several memorable meals in Michelin starred establishments over the years, when recently planning a driving tour through Europe, my travelling companions and I decided to treat ourselves to a couple more on our journey. Hence a dinner at Restaurant August, with it 's two...stars, was arranged. Sadly, it proved to be the most disappointing meal of our whole 10 day trip. Even our welcome felt awkward. Yes, we were shown the kitchen but also the empty rooms not being used and then taken out onto the terrace, all dark and cold, with the explanation that it will be nice in summer. Maybe, but it was not nice on a dank February evening. Eventually, at table and feeling better after a glass of champagne, amuse bouche were arranged on broken crockery under a glass panel. An interesting and creative approach. However, the idea soon palled when later we were faced with things like fish skin or vegetable peelings which should have been in the compost bucket, not near a plate. There 's no doubt that the flavours Christian Grünwald created were dramatic either in strength or richness but the evening became a bit of a struggle because of a lack of subtlety overall including the portion size (and some dishes came with the instruction to put the whole in one 's mouth). It 's difficult to choose wines to accompany dishes when you do not know what those dishes will be and the menu is described as a surprise. There was no carefully chosen flight or even recommended wines by the glass, indeed they do not serve wines by the glass at all. We did enjoy the bottles we had but it felt like an expensive punt. Everything about Restaurant August, that evening, was fulsome. The flavours, the amounts, the art, the uniforms. The Michelin Guide states that the award of two stars means worth a detour . Quite frankly, we wished we had kept on driving.

In this restaurant the ghosts, great ingredients, kreatiw, optic appealing, but on duration quite much creativity. her own side is on a normal course. there is unfortunately a healthy mix and then also the 20 courses are boring and too much of the good. actually only suitable for lovers of molecular-creative cuisine. Hopefully this ingenious cook finds a medium-sized way from classic and molecular creative cuisine.
