Strathearn draws praise for beautiful dining, excellent dishes and strong wine service, but reviews cite inconsistent service and premium pricing with surcharges.

Unlike many of the reviewers here, we shared a delightful dinner at the Strathearn. Food was refined, service was attentive, prompt and personable, and the setting is stunning.

Breakfast is great, service is excellent. So much choice of breakfast items, everything is cooked lovely, i grabbed items from the buffet. Links, hash brown, potato scone, sourdough bread, bacon and other items, impressed with the scones, nice and crispy and not burnt to hell like everywhere else. The Stornoway BlackPudding could be better, i would use the Charles macleod brand opposed to Macleod Macleod. Either way, it comes in your room fee, the foods great, the service is great, thoroughly recommend.

Such a lovely restaurant! This is where breakfast is served every day, you can do a la carte or do the buffet, or both! Infinity of options to choose from, I think it’s by far the biggest selection I have ever seen on a breakfast buffet, not only great selection but amazing quality food! We also hosted some friends for dinner at this same restaurant and the dinner was just outstanding, from the service, the selection of champagnes and wines, the food, everything was 10/10, we had such amazing evening with live music on the background. I didn’t take any photos of the evening as I didn’t find appropriate doing so in front of our guests, but they were also delighted by the whole experience. The dress code is more casual for breakfast, but definitely dress up for lunch and dinner, such a beautiful and fancy restaurant.

My wife and I along with friends came to this restaurant in September for Sunday lunch. Very disappointed with the food. A 5star hotel that couldn't make simple roast potatoes and their roast beef was tough. For the price we paid, we expected better quality. We won't be rushing back

Serving traditional English food in lavish surroundings. Divine scallops, tasty beef though the Yorkshire pudding lacked something. On the voluminous wine list, you’ll be hard pressed to find anything in double figures, but plenty in four. I found a tasty Argentine pino noir for around £100. Star of the show for me was the delicious flambé rum baba. Sumptuous.

More information

Strathearn’s menu leans on Scotland’s coastal and estate larder: many of the seafood and game dishes are routinely swapped to follow seasonal catches and local farms — so a visit in autumn or spring may showcase entirely different, locally sourced highlights than a winter booking.
