Mama Wings - Atlanta
Mama Wings
Description
Mama Wings serves consistently tasty, well-sauced wings with mix-and-match flavors, generous portions and wallet-friendly prices. Diners praise friendly, professional service and accessible parking and wheelchair access, in a straightforward, low-fuss setting. Fried rice divides opinion — some call it hearty and loaded, others find it closer to plain rice with veggies — and a few customers noted small sauce portions, occasional undercooking, and limited hours. Overall a reliable go-to for wings and comfort takeout.

Very low fuss eatery. We went based off the recommendations of other reviews, and glad we took the chance. While it isn't the best looking restaurant, the food and the price makes it all worth it. I've gone twice (I wanted to try it twice, to make sure it was consistent) and both times, I have really enjoyed the food. I love their wings and chicken fried rice. The rice is so hearty and filling. The wings aren't fried too hard, and have just the right amount of meat. Not HUGE wings, but not skinny wimpy wings either. They're just right. For the amount of food and the price, I enjoy Mama Wings and know I will be back again, again, and again.
I've been buying wings from this place since 2009, even before they moved to this location. Their wings are delicious, and their house fried rice is also excellent—it's loaded with shrimp, chicken, and beef, unlike other places that skimp on the shrimp. It's a great spot with very affordable prices!
I ordered the wings and fried rice combo. The wings were tasty, with a good size and flavorful sauce. However, I have a problem with the so-called fried rice! Like many places, including Mama's, they don’t actually fry the rice. They just take plain white rice, add some vegetables, and a bit of soy sauce. In New Jersey and New York, fried rice usually has a yellow color, like most fried dishes, and they also fry the onions. I'm really hoping to find some authentic fried rice, but unfortunately, this wasn't it.
The food has a great taste and the prices are reasonable. However, I noticed that the menu prices have changed compared to what was mentioned in another review, with an increase of about $1.25 to $2.00. My only two complaints are that the ranch dressing comes in a small cup and there are no extras available for the fries.
