Floataway continues to be a notable dining destination, featuring a diverse menu that appeals to various palates. While recent changes in the kitchen have impacted food quality, with some dishes falling short of their former excellence, highlights include the well-prepared salmon and delectable appetizers like the beet salad. Couple small service hiccups when we first sat down but the rest of the night was smooth. The scuppernong sour cocktail is right up my alley and it was delicious. Good old fashioned too. Looked like a good wine list and though it's not a great place forbeer, they had ok options in bottles/cans for a very reasonable price. The food was great. Bacon wrapped shrimp was maybe alittle tough but tasted good and the sourdough was excellent. I got the chicken schnitzel and it was perfectly fried with somevery tasty accoutrements. My wife got the mushroom gnocchi and that was also fantastic. The decor inside feels a bit like beingin a hotel business center but I'd gladly enjoy that meal in a drafty shack.
I loved the ambiance and vibes of this place — it was something out of a movie with a very quiet outside area, but as soon as you pass the 90s-esque grunge windows, you enter into a wonderfully large space. The seats were nice, and each area was dividedinto rooms, along with a small curtain separating your table from the main walkway. The initial bread was given, and the oliveoil carried all the wonderful flavor, I wish the bread was warm, however, and that would’ve made it easier to chew. I did notlike my drink very much (Dressed to Kill , so I would probably get something else, or nothing at all. I also thought it wascreative to create celery bitters, but the drink (Body Double was not my cup of tea either. The Brussel Sprouts were verytasty, although I wish there was some flaky sea salt sprinkled on top as garnish. The meals were quite nice! The ChickenSchnitzel was very flavorful and paired excellently with the apples and ricotta. The Braised Lamb Gnocchi was excellent! Thegnocchi was so pillowy and fluffy and the sauce and lamb was absolutely to die for. After a while, I thought the dish became alittle too salty for my liking, but I have been told I am sensitive to salt so that was probably it. All in all, I loved bothdishes. The Gateau Victoire and Strawberry Hand Pie were excellent desserts. Would highly recommend whatever variation of handpie being served because the flavors are there and it is uniquely in its crispy shell. I love a flourless chocolate cake and theGateau Victoire was no exception. Loved the combination with the whipped cream. Yum! Now some cons: The cushioned seats werecomfortable, yes, but provided no lumbar support and were at an almost 90° angle. Hard to find a comfortable resting incline. The servers were pretty nice, however the service was a little slow. I imagine it’s due to a shortage in servers (pay servershigher!! , but our server was extremely kind and thoughtful and we were celebrating so the Gateau Victoire was
Lovely setup and atmosphere. Wanted to complain about the steak (see picture), but waited for more than 30 minutes and the server never showed up (he showed up finally when I was writing this review but he just briefly checked the nearby table andwent away).

Excellent food and service! Ellie was our server. Great job! We ordered the octopus and crab so so good! I had pasta and my husband had the bass.
The food was absolutely amazing, but the service left a lot to be desired. When the staff found out it was our first time dining there, they didn’t offer any descriptions or recommendations. Additionally, they were very slow to check in on us. Everyone in our group ordered an appetizer, entree, and dessert, so we weren't being shy about trying different dishes. Unfortunately, there were missed opportunities for upselling. It seems like management either isn't training the staff properly or isn't ensuring they maintain high standards. Overall, it was a disappointing experience for me.
We didn't read the reviews before going and I'm glad we didn't. It would have dissuaded us from going and caused us to miss out on a wonderful and tasty meal. We had the octopus and both ordered the lamb. We had a wonderful evening. Our waiter was attentive and we never wanted for anything. We will be going again. The food was exquisite and perfectly done. And there was bread Service to whoever said there wasn't... although it needed butter and not olive oil. But that's just my preference. 11/10 would go again!
I fell in love with this hidden gem!!!! This little gem is hidden in the back of a court yard down a side road. Definitely wasn't expecting a restaurant to be tucked away. Who would have known they have been here for 20 years!!! As my husband and I entered, we were both blown away at the beauty of the restaurant. Very simple decor but nice. Clean lines and neutral colors. The selection on the menu would please even the pickiest eater. There is definitely something for everyone. I ordered the wood smoked octopus with pole beans. My husband ordered the Wood Oven Roasted Loup De Mer (fish) dish and salad. The dishes weren't overly complicated but the taste was amazing. Absolutely delicious
This restaurant is a local place. The food is average and above average in cost. I had the salmon and vegetables, one of my dinner companions had the pizza Rosa and the other companion had the crispy pork schnitzel. The salmon well prepared, the pork schnitzel was good and the pizza Rosa was judged to be average. The beet salad with goat cheese was a shared appetizer and was quite good. It was fresh beets that were marinated in a savory mixture and served with a soft, whipped mildly flavored goat cheese. There was no bread service at all (yes, a French restaurant with no bread! . The desserts were good; I had the pound cake and my companions both had the chocolate cake, no complaints here. After dinner coffee was offered in a French press and had a good body and flavor. One dinner companion had a cocktail which she enjoyed, but I do not remember the name and my other dinner companions had a glass of white wine, which she too enjoyed. The dinner lasted two hours mainly due to slow service and long wait times between courses. The meal felt skimpy and I left a bit hungry. I doubt I will make this place a regular dining experience.

I really enjoy Floataway. It is small, out of the way, nice distance between tables. Service and food are excellent. Easy comfortable dining.
One of the best kept secrets of the ATL! I've had the pleasure of dining at Float Away twice this month and both visits were great. The apps, the wine list, the bread (OMG the bread! and the entrees were fantastic. I find the interior very comfortable and the acoustics are so that it is one of the few restaurants that you can actually hear what the others in your party are saying. I've heard other people talk about the service being hit or miss. I would encourage everyone to give it another try as the food is really something special. I will most definitely be back.
This was my favorite restaurant in atlanta for years. several years ago i went back after they renovated and was seated at the kitchen door. i decided to give it another's try for my birthday. i made reservations weeks ahead. went in and was seated against the windows on a night when it was 27 outside. my date and i had to wear coats and overcoat on legs. ordered fish and it was tasteless on both dishes. i ordered desert and latte and desert was excellent but to remind waiter about latte. o well.
Have frequented many times since opening more than 20 years ago. This was most disappointing visit. We were late for our 9pm reservation; but kitchen was still very much open and place almost empty. All we ordered was a salad for two and pizza; we were not there to drink (hence not a hight ticket meal . Asked for salad to be chopped fine and it wasn't (how hard is it to take a big knife to a big bowl of salad and the pizza took almost an hour to deliver to the table (are you kidding me; did they send out for it? . I know each one is made from scratch but in spite of all apologies from waitstaff, this was ridiculous. I was looking for dinner, not a midnight snack. We shall go again, but be more unforgiving next time

Hmm, the menu has changed quite a bit. I remember it being more focused on fine dining rather than pizza. That said, the service was a bit slow, and the food was just average. However, the salads were enjoyable, especially the arugula.
I hadn't visited this restaurant in quite a while, and my last impression of it was that it was quite dimly lit with average food. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I went there for dinner recently...

One of Atlanta's hidden gems for dining. It's a fantastic spot for a special occasion, whether you're with a partner or a group. The food and drinks are consistently delicious.

When we arrived, the restaurant was only moderately busy. Our waiter took our drink orders, but it took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. We both ordered the fish, which was delicious, but my partner found bones in his meal after every bite. We finished our drinks and waited quite a while before the waiter returned to see if we wanted another round. After our meal, it became clear that the waiter hadn't received the note about the birthday dessert. By that point, we were so disappointed with the service that we didn't want to flag this up to the waiter. Overall, it was a letdown of a meal.
This was our second visit to Floataway, although it had been about three years since our first time. During our first meal, everything was magical, and we loved every bite. However, our most recent experience was just not the same. The salad was dressed but came off as insignificant, the duck bolognese was overly salty, and the service was rather slow, especially as the evening went on. The atmosphere was lovely, my partner enjoyed the steak, and the wine was fantastic. Despite these positives, with so many great dining options in the city, it might be a while before we consider returning.
Floataway has always been very consistent and good in the course of the years, but with kitchen changes recently, the performance was good, but not as good as before. some short cuts on the tellers were remarkable. but still one of the better possibilities in this city.
Our waitress was very nice, but the food took about 50 minutes to an hour to get to our table after we ordered. The food is way overpriced. It was tasty, but nothing special for the price you paid for it, not to mention that the portion was VERY small for the $25 paid. We will probably not be returning.
We have been to FC for New Year's Eve several years in a row and this year was disappointing. Our crab fritter was cold in the middle, our server was sweet, but seemed overwhelmed and inexperienced. (Our wine was not opened up at the table which was strange. The steak was seasoned perfectly, but the whole fish was lacking in flavor. We will be back, but to note, it feels like the restaurant has taken a couple steps back in quality.
