Menu

On this site, you will find the complete menu of The Islay from Argyll Bute. Currently, there are 66 menus and drinks available.

Nestled in Port Ellen, this restaurant offers a mixed bag of dining experiences. While some guests rave about the fantastic food, including the Gigha halibut and sumptuous desserts like the Lagavulin crème brûlée, others have faced challenges with service and food quality. A few patrons encountered issues with incorrect meal preparations and unfriendly staff, which dampened their experience. However, many noted the welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and attention to dietary needs, such as gluten-free options. Overall, it’s a popular spot, particularly for those who can secure a table early, amidst a shortage of dining choices on Islay.

What Naviguesser50 dislikes about The Islay:
On a chilly evening in May, we were informed that we could only sit outside at this restaurant. When we had previously tried to book a table for dinner, we were told it wasn't possible. Despite being told that there would likely be a rush, we returned at 7pm only to be told we could only wait outside for a table to become available. Unwilling to endure the cold, we ended up getting takeout from a fish and chip shop,... View all feedback.

I spent about an hour and three quarters at the restaurant. The food was hot and reasonably priced. I left a tip for the young waitresses, who seemed surprised by it. Does no one tip for good service anymore? I would definitely recommend the Islay Hotel if you are in the area.

The food was excellent, the service was very friendly, and the live music made for a great evening. The portions were generous and the dishes were well presented. I will definitely return.

We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed breakfast and dinner several times. Excellent local food and kind service. The room was great and this was a wonderful place to stay to see the many whisky distilleries. Close to walking trails and a wonderful little beach in Port Ellen across the street from the hotel. We will be back.
