Nestled along a secluded road, Cake-a-Way is a charming hidden gem that has quickly become a beloved stop for locals and travelers alike. Showcasing an impressive selection of delectable cakes—including standout blueberry scones and indulgent Bakewell slices—the venue operates on a delightful honesty box system, allowing visitors to enjoy sweet treats at their leisure. While the variety of offerings is commendable, patrons note a lack of gluten and dairy-free options. With its enchanting setting, convenient picnic area, and delightful array of sweet indulgences, Cake-a-Way is certainly worth a detour for anyone seeking a memorable culinary experience.
My family and I came to this restaurant after a boat trip. We had been to Cakeway when it was located in Tayvialich and had enjoyed it. When we arrived, I was delighted to see the little shed adorned with colorful bunting. We ordered biscuits and ice lollies and were satisfied with our treats. However, we felt that the menu could use more variety.
While staying nearby, we discovered Cake a Way and ended up visiting every day, even on our way back home! We enjoyed the excitement of choosing from their variety of options, although it did take us some time. The blueberry scones were a particular hit for us. We indulged in nearly everything they had to offer during our stay, and now that we're back home, we miss our daily dose of cake. Linda has definitely found a winning business concept, and we truly hope it succeeds, despite its remote location. A top tip for those driving to Crinan: make the detour to Cake a Way for some delicious treats.
While driving along a quiet road, we stumbled upon a small shed that looked like a summer house, advertising delicious cakes. It was like a hidden gem! The cakes were amazing with a variety of naughty treats that were definitely high in calories. My favorite was the Wagon Wheel cakes. They also had cold drinks and eggs for sale. The stall was unmanned but had a sign that promoted trust and honesty, which I thought was charming. They provided napkins, paper bags, a change pot, and even lists of ingredients for each cake. The only downside was that we couldn't find any dairy-free options on our two visits. I wish we had something similar to this place nearby. Thank you to whoever is behind this wonderful establishment.
Excellent idea, taste. Well done. Never expected this cute shed, filled with wonderful produce. All our group purchased.
We had driven past this once and on the second drive past we decided to give it a try. There was a huge selection of individual cakes in boxes, all clearly labelled and priced with an honesty box. We chose lemon cake £1.50 and rocky road £1.60 and were able to wrap them in the paper bags provided. Although we didn't leave a message in their guest book, I wanted to leave something on here as we would definitely visit again. Although it may be difficult for them to do, I didn't spot any gluten or dairy free items but for such a small place it may be difficult to provide cakes for specific dietary needs or perhaps we didn't spot them in amongst the vast choice of cakes on offer : . Would highly recommend and we'll be going back again when we next visit the area.
