Description

This restaurant has garnered a reputation for its BBQ offerings, with opinions divided among patrons. Many rave about the smoked wings, brisket sandwiches, and hearty portions. The sweet potato hush puppies and loaded pork fries also receive high praise. However, the inconsistency in food quality is a concern; sides like coleslaw and baked beans often disappoint, while some dishes are perceived as overcooked or lacking flavor. Although the ambiance can be chilly and service varies, the hearty BBQ experience keeps customers coming back, eager to discover the gems hidden within the menu.

So surprised by the great reviews. The food was so below average. Meats were just okay. Cold ribs and brisket were alright, tender. Brisket rub was nice. Brisket is fatty, which is normal but this was mostly fat. Ribs did fall of the bone. Tasted that smoke into the next day which is indicative of poor fire/wood management. Fries were awful. Way over and sorta soggy. Mac and cheese was watery with a slob of useless melted cheese on top. Bbq sauce was very sweet. I would not come back here. The place decor, seating, and service was nice. But it's cold inside in the winter.

I would be inclined to leave 3 stars, but my husband raved about his food, so 4 stars it is. I had the pork loaded fries, and they were just ok. The fries and the meat weren't really seasoned. I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't what I got. I ordered a side of sweet potato hush puppies and those were fantastic. I took home the leftovers and ate them for breakfast until they were gone. That was really my only highlight. The blueberry Arnold Palmer was too sweet; thankfully my husband didn't let it go to waste. I just couldn't drink it. Speaking of, he had the brisket cheesesteak and described it as the best cheesesteak he ever had. Pretty impressive seeing how picky he can get. So I'm glad he overwhelmingly enjoyed his food. Staff were nice. Food came out quickly. It was just really drafty the day we went and we never took off our coats. I couldn't tell if there was any heat where we were. Next time we will sit away from the path of the entrance. I also just want to warn that it wasn't the most inexpensive meal, so check to be sure you can handle the prices when you go. Overall I'd return and just order a different entree.

After reading all the positive reviews we decided to try Sophie's Bbq. I ordered the 1/2 rack of ST. LOUUS ribs and a 1/2 LB of Lean brisket. My wife ordered the chicken sandwich and our friend the salmon sandwich. The salmon was good it was on cold toast? The chicken sandwich was good. They both ordered Mac and cheese for their sides. We ordered cornbread which was TOTALLY DRY AND HARD! And we got the sweet potato fritters very good. Well my 1/2 rack of ribs were cool and tough. I returned them and got pulled pork instead. Not much flavor it had no sauce on it. It was ABSOLUTELY FREEZING inside the restaurant and no heaters just a small vent blowing into the dining room. The door lets in all the cold air. We will not be back after spending $105.00 plus a 15% tip.

The shop is very cute but warning if you go on a cold day the place is freezing!! The wings were out of this world, 10/10. We also got some pulled pork but it was cold (probably cause the whole place is cold) and the Mac and cheese is underwhelming. Overall solid spot, maybe order take out instead of dine in

We enjoyed a pulled pork bbq dinner which was enough for two. Hubby liked the collard greens and the corn bread was generous and delicious. Our guest really liked her chicken cheese steak. We ate outside and the waitress checked on us as she served other tables. Highly recommend.
