Description

This restaurant has garnered a reputation for its BBQ offerings, with opinions divided among patrons. Many rave about the smoked wings, brisket sandwiches, and hearty portions. The sweet potato hush puppies and loaded pork fries also receive high praise. However, the inconsistency in food quality is a concern; sides like coleslaw and baked beans often disappoint, while some dishes are perceived as overcooked or lacking flavor. Although the ambiance can be chilly and service varies, the hearty BBQ experience keeps customers coming back, eager to discover the gems hidden within the menu.

It 's great. It 's not Omg best BBQ I 've ever had!!! great but if you are in the mood for some absolutely solid BBQ, there is no reason not to go here. And it 's not good it 's great. Brisket cheesesteak was really well balanced and flavorful smoky brisket, just enough sweet caramelized onions, and just the right amount of cooper sharp, all on a nice soft bun. Wish it were a little bigger, but when you go up in quality you 'll of course go down in quantity, so this isn 't really a fair complaint. Hush puppies were probably good, but just not my thing. BBQ beans were excellent, and the collard greens had a nice kick to them.

Really good bbq place!! Came here for dinner. Was able to make a reservation online. We ordered a shareable of the sweet potato hush puppies. Holy cow. Biggest hush puppies ever! These things are giant. My daughter and I shared the bbq platter. We got the chicken. It was delicious. Very tender. The cornbread that came with it was so good! Our two sides were baked beans and mac and cheese. Daughter loved the mac and cheese. I didn't love the baked beans. I would not get those again. Overall a great experience. I would come here again.

Located in the heart of Havertown right off of Darby road, Sophie's BBQ provides a quiet location to enjoy staple BBQ cuisine with a creative twist. My girlfriend and I started with the hand cut fries tossed in their homemade cheese sauce, and an order of the brussels sprouts. Fries were crispy and seasoned well, and we both agreed that the brussels sprouts were a must-order. Pickled jalapeños and candied bacon brings to life what can otherwise be a relatively bland dish. For main courses, we opted to split a few items: BBQ Sandwich (pulled pork) was tasty and we enjoyed the seeded bun. Pork was a bit on the dry side and I could've done with some more sauce to compensate but overall, great flavor. Side of beans was a nice touch- with a slight coffee taste, they are unique to most bbq beans that I've had previously. BBQ platter was a great choice if you are interested in trying a few sides. We went with the half pound of brisket, coleslaw and mac and cheese. Brisket was smoked to perfection with marbled fat that melts away in your mouth. Eat it while it's hot! You definitely pay for what you get though; Don't forget your wallet Friendly service and a filling meal left us more than satisfied, and we will certainly be back soon!

So surprised by the great reviews. The food was so below average. Meats were just okay. Cold ribs and brisket were alright, tender. Brisket rub was nice. Brisket is fatty, which is normal but this was mostly fat. Ribs did fall of the bone. Tasted that smoke into the next day which is indicative of poor fire/wood management. Fries were awful. Way over and sorta soggy. Mac and cheese was watery with a slob of useless melted cheese on top. Bbq sauce was very sweet. I would not come back here. The place decor, seating, and service was nice. But it's cold inside in the winter.

I would be inclined to leave 3 stars, but my husband raved about his food, so 4 stars it is. I had the pork loaded fries, and they were just ok. The fries and the meat weren't really seasoned. I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't what I got. I ordered a side of sweet potato hush puppies and those were fantastic. I took home the leftovers and ate them for breakfast until they were gone. That was really my only highlight. The blueberry Arnold Palmer was too sweet; thankfully my husband didn't let it go to waste. I just couldn't drink it. Speaking of, he had the brisket cheesesteak and described it as the best cheesesteak he ever had. Pretty impressive seeing how picky he can get. So I'm glad he overwhelmingly enjoyed his food. Staff were nice. Food came out quickly. It was just really drafty the day we went and we never took off our coats. I couldn't tell if there was any heat where we were. Next time we will sit away from the path of the entrance. I also just want to warn that it wasn't the most inexpensive meal, so check to be sure you can handle the prices when you go. Overall I'd return and just order a different entree.
