I couldn't get accommodation for the music festival this year, but I visited the day after and I'm so glad I did. The Gigha Hotel provided us with an unforgettable evening - with lovely people, amazing food, and a spontaneous concert in the pub. I can't wait to visit again. Thank you to everyone at the hotel!
During our three-week stay on Gigha this summer, we frequented the hotel for lunch and drinks in the garden. The hotel staff, including reception, restaurant, and the chef, were excellent in accommodating a severe food allergy for one of our party. They were able to cater to a variety of dietary requirements, such as nut-free and gluten-free meals, which was a pleasant surprise. The food was fresh, well-prepared, and served in generous portions, ideal after a day of exploring the island or playing on the beach. The waiting staff, particularly Silvija, were wonderful with our children, who now have lovely memories of Gigha, the hotel, and the people they met. We will definitely be returning again!
The food was excellent, the staff was friendly, and the restaurant was charming. I'm disappointed that it was winter, but I will definitely come back to try it again.
The restaurant at this hotel is a delightful experience. The food is excellent, the beds are comfortable, and the atmosphere is cozy. It's a fantastic place to stay when visiting the island. I can't wait to come back in the summer. One small suggestion: please complete the residents' lounge.
Some months ago, we booked 2 rooms for a 2 night stay at the Gigha Hotel. We caught the 2pm ferry to Gigha and unfortunately a piece of plant machinery accidentally reversed into my car, the driver asked where we were headed and when we said Gigha Hotel, he informed us that it had been closed for about a week due to a Covid outbreak. We drove to the hotel and a young man with a foreign accent stuck his head through a skylight to tell us that the hotel was indeed closed, I asked him why we hadn't been informed about the closure and he couldn't answer. All other accommodation in the area was fully booked and we had to drive to Dumbarton before we found somewhere with a family room. Simply not having the common decency to inform us that the hotel was closed caused a huge amount of distress and expense, to eventually get back to Campbeltown to continue our holiday as planned, in total meant 4 totally unnecessary ferry journeys and around 200 miles of extra travel. Other people seemed to be in the same boat, none of us had been informed that the hotel was closed. I will never again visit this establishment where the management have so little respect for the clientele. Whoever owns this hotel, hang your head in shame, if of course you have any shame.
