**Restaurant Reviews: A Mixed Bag of Experiences** This restaurant evokes a diverse array of reactions, from loyal patrons to disappointed diners. While some commend its flavorful dishes like orange chicken and crab rangoon, others express dissatisfaction with overcooked, cold meals and even creepy surprises like cigarette ash. Consistency is a recurring issue, particularly with chicken dishes often lacking substance. Several guests appreciate the generous portions and fresh ingredients, especially in seafood dishes, while a few lament the fading quality of beloved items like pho. Despite a rocky reputation, the restaurant continues to draw customers seeking affordable, hearty meals, highlighting a tumultuous but intriguing dining experience.

Was John Alhelm at China Garden a mag?
My go to Chinese place for food in the Fox Valley. Food is always hot, fresh and consistently good. I’m from Cali where Chinese food is authentic and this place is on par. I usually get the General Tso’s Chicken combo platter or the Shrimp Hunan combo platter. The chicken and pork Lo Mein is a hit too. Don’t let the reviews fool you, the low ratings are from a few years ago when it was under previous management. View all feedback.

What Jeff N dislikes about China Garden:
We've been getting food from this restaurant every couple of weeks. However, last night I found cigarette ash in my General Tso's chicken, which was really disappointing. View all feedback.

My wife and I have been visiting this restaurant for the past four years, and we absolutely love it. The staff is incredibly hardworking and does an excellent job. The Crab Rangoon is simply amazing!

Everything is so good. Egg rolls, crab rangoons, lo mein, my shoo pork. Definitely the best in the valley.

New owners took over awhile back and they are extremely nice. The restaurant is clean and the food is great.

Reminds me of my favorite place in Geneva, Illinois called Gen Ho

I keep trying this place because it 's the closest Chinese restaurant that delivers to my house. The first time I ordered, I got the beef and broccoli. Beef is always hit or miss at a Chinese place. The beef was weird here. So the second time I ordered just Hunan broccoli, that was gross too- the sauce was like jelly instead of sauce. I decided to give it another try and we ordered the chicken and cashew combo and curry chicken. What the actual hell. It 's like they 're not even trying. I opened the chicken and cashews and the first thing I noticed was 'where 's all the chicken and cashews? ' There was probably a full cup of raw celery and carrots mixed into this dish and the cashews were just sprinkled around the edge on the top. The chicken wasn 't even chicken, it was like deep fried chicken skin. And the fried rice wasn 't even brown and had zero flavor. I am not a crazy person. This food is just the worst attempt I 've ever seen. The curry chicken tasted watered down and had that Jelly-sauce and, again, zero flavor. I liked the crab ragoons and egg roll but by the time I tried them, the bar was set pretty low. After three disappointing experiences, I feel bad to have to write this honest review.
