Flavio’s offers exceptional, authentic Italian cuisine with standout dishes like lobster bisque, veal Marsala, and homemade pasta, delighting locals and visitors alike. The quality of ingredients and warm, attentive service add to its charm as a culinary destination in rural Apollo. However, reservations are essential and can be difficult for larger groups due to staffing shortages. While the food consistently impresses, some patrons note challenges with the owner’s cold demeanor, especially when managing reservations and the bar, which can impact the overall experience. Despite this, Flavio’s remains a beloved spot worth visiting for its historic appeal and outstanding flavors.

Absolutely delightful! From the freshly baked bread to the incredible lobster bisque appetizer, everything was fantastic—the fresh salad and vegetables were also a treat! And the main course? Wow! I highly recommend this place! View all feedback.
What Phil Rehberg dislikes about Flavio's:
I would truly love to review Flavio's. The problem is, I want to bring family and friends and they won't take a reservation for 8 or 10 people. The excuse I've been given is that they don't have enough help. Maybe take two less reservations for 4. It was always one of my favorite restaurants in the Valley. I'll continue to try to get a reservation for 8-10 people and maybe at some point we can get in. View all feedback.

The attention to ingredient quality is evident. The raw onions in the house salad are pleasantly sweet. The wedding soup is spot-on, and I’ve never had better oyster crackers. The creamed butter served with freshly baked bread is divine, and the shrimp in the shrimp cocktail is superb. The homemade pasta is excellent, and the veal Marsala is a timeless classic. But keep in mind, this is Apollo, a small, struggling town about an hour outside of Pittsburgh, which adds to the wonder of the experience. This was my first visit since 1989, and I’m pleased to say that it has not lost its touch. Our waitress, who had just been on the job for three weeks and was new to waitressing, was delightful and clearly well-trained, effectively representing her town. For those living in this rural area, the prices might seem a bit high, but you absolutely must go at least once in your lifetime. For the rest of us, it’s a destination that captures a slice of culinary history, and it’s well worth the journey. I won't wait so long to return again.
Reservation ONLY, due to staffing so call ahead. All things considered the whole dining process was a little over a hour and as much as the atmosphere was relaxing and service commendable the experience in total was a bit disappointing mainly due to the food and you can't judge 1 thing 1 time but outside the bread nothing really impressed me here.
