Fazoli's - Ankeny
Fazoli's
Description
Fazoli's offers a blend of culinary highs and lows, leaving diners with varied impressions. While the attentive service by staff like Chris shines, gaining praise for politeness and diligence, the food often underwhelms. Meatballs and pasta dishes frequently miss the mark, with bland sauces and missing ingredients. The atmosphere, though ample, lacks excitement, and inconsistent service can dampen the experience. On a positive note, complimentary breadsticks are a highlight for some. Overall, Fazoli's may cater to specific cravings or loyal patrons, but many diners expect more for their investment.

Chris rules sometimes at other Fazoli’s locations it seems everyone is too busy to continue customer service throughout the visit, but while he was cleaning tables he asked us and other tables if we needed anything and then brought us 6 more breadsticks! 10/10 highly recommend.
Chris was very helpful and quick to answer any questions and made sure we were taken care of our whole time dining in. I appreciated his mix of professional and personal service and the food was just as good. Thanks again Chris, keep it up man!
This Fazoli's was a great stop that perfectly suited our road trip needs. Our order was absolutely spot-on and arrived with a generous stack of complimentary breadsticks—delicious! It’s conveniently situated just minutes from I-35.
I had higher expectations given the price I paid. The only reason I keep returning to this restaurant is that it’s my daughter’s favorite. The meatballs are acceptable, but the red sauce is lacking in flavor and requires a heavy sprinkle of parmesan to improve it, though the cheese adds an odd starchy taste to the dish. The service is consistently unreliable and often seems disinterested or even annoyed. The atmosphere, much like the food, is quite unremarkable, although there is ample seating, which is a plus. The breadsticks, usually soft and a bit greasy, were dry and crunchy on the ends during my last visit, suggesting they might have been old or overcooked. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for a meal. It’s only worth a visit if you’re in a situation like mine, where someone you care about inexplicably enjoys the food.
The service at the restaurant was outstanding—both friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the pasta dishes didn't meet expectations. The Grand Sampler we ordered was missing the lasagna, the chicken Alfredo had no chicken, and the meat sauce on the ravioli was devoid of meat. The breadsticks had a wonderful flavor but seemed overbaked, as if they had been left out for too long. On a positive note, the pizzas we ordered, including both pepperoni and cheese, were fantastic, and the fried mozzarella skewers were excellent as well.
