Short version: misleading, overcharging nightmare. Full version: Mapo tofu contains pork despite being double- labelled as vegetarian by both being one of the four dishes listed in the vegetable section of the menu and having the green vegetarian symbol next to it. We thought it must be TVP or some other fake meat, but after discovering a piece of something that must have been seafood in the veggie ramen, which also tasted a bit like it contained chicken stock, something didn't feel right, so asked the waiter if the mapo tofu contained meat. Sure enough, it's pork. I asked why does it have the veggie symbol next to it, she said whoever's printed the menu must have made a mistake. I suggested they need to change it, they didn't seem concerned. I took a pen and scribbled “contains pork” in our menu, but that's just one copy. They also brought us a rice triangle we couldn't remember ordering, we thought maybe it came with the mapo tofu, since they brought it at the same time, ate some of the rice, which tasted really weird, and uncovered salmon inside. Secondly, the 10.90 euro all you can eat lunch deal is misleading where it says “drink, dessert covered not included” and right underneath it says “covered 1 euro”. To us that looked like 1 euro extra covers drink and dessert, we asked the waitress to confirm, asked if the 1 euro extra included all you can eat dessert or just one, she said just one, so we ordered a water and dessert each. When we got the bill it was 37 euros instead of 22! In addition to 1 euro each cover charge just to sit down they charged 2.50 each for the waters, and 3.50 plus 5 euros for each of the desserts, which on our copy of the menu were supposed to cost 3 euros each, but apparently different copies show different prices and ours was older so we had to pay more. Finally, it was pretty hard to get a waiter's attention in this place. As soon as they grabbed something or put down something on any table, they rushed back to the kitchen while looking at their feet, which meant we had to wait a long time and ended up making wrong assumptions and eating the mapo tofu before we ever got a chance to ask someone about it. Pretty angry since it's the first time in 20 years that I've consumed meat, and I lived in Japan without ever making that mistake, but a Japanese restaurant on my first day in Italy, and I'm duped. Feels awful.
Short version: misleading, overloading nightmare. Full Version: Mapo tofu contains pigs, although they are double marked as vegetarians by being both one of the four dishes listed in the vegetable section of the menu and the green vegetarian symbol next to it. We thought it had to be TVP or another fake meat, but after the discovery of a piece of something that must have been seafood in the Veggie rays, which also tasted a bit as it contained chicken stock, something did not feel right, so the waiter asked if the mapo contained tofu meat. Sure, it's pork. I asked why it has the Veggie icon next to him, she said who printed the menu must have made a mistake. I suggested they have to change it, they didn't seem worried. I took a pen and dice “includes pig” in our menu, but this is just a copy. They also brought us a rice triangle that we could not remember, we might think it came with the Mapo Tofu as they brought it at the same time, ate some of the rice that really tasted strange, and discovered salmon inside. Second, the 10.90 Euro, all you can eat is misleading where it says: “drink, dessert not included” and directly below it says “covers 1 Euro”. For us, who looked like 1 Euro extra covers drink and dessert, we asked the waitress to confirm, asked if the 1 Euro extra including everything you can eat dessert or just one, they just said one, so we ordered a water and dessert everyone. When we got the bill, there were 37 euros instead of 22! In addition to 1 Euro per cover fee only for sitting, they calculated 2.50 for the water, and 3.50 plus 5 Euro for each of the desserts, which on our copy of the menu should cost 3 Euro per, but apparently different copies show different prices and our was older, so we had to pay more. After all, it was pretty hard to make a waiter aware of this place. As soon as they grabbed something or put something on each table, they rushed back to the kitchen while they looked at their feet, which meant that we had to wait a long time and ended up making false assumptions and eating the Mapo Tofu before we ever got a chance to ask someone about it. Pretty angry as it is the first time in 20 years that I consumed meat, and I lived in Japan without ever making this mistake, but a Japanese restaurant on my first day in Italy, and I am kidnapped. It feels terrible.
