Tequila 61 - Anchorage

The food and cocktails at this restaurant are incredible, and the unique ambiance really sets it apart. I highly recommend it.

Our server was fantastic, the drinks were perfect, and the food was delicious. The only downside was that the rice was a bit bland and the beans needed a bit more salt and cheese. The halibut tacos and shrimp ceviche were both full of wonderful flavors. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

The frijoles were interestingly seasoned and quite tasty. The salsa was good as were the jicama shrimp coconut tacos. However the ceviche was very poor and badly executed. Ceviche is a known dish and if you cannot follow protocol you need to tell the customer this is not the kind of ceviche you're used to. The fish also smelled old. $11 for chips and salsa is a bit ridiculous. Mostly those are considered table fare. The carnitas tacos were generous and tasty. Recommend those. When we arrived the music was very loud but the server accommodated and it was turned down to moderate and you can still talk over it levels. The staff is cheery service is good but the food has to be rated as mediocre overall.

Usually this restaurant is 5star all around. Last night the food was disappointing. Ceviche mostly just shrimp no veggies, flan was a large piece of cake, margaritas now served in tall glasses with a lot of ice. Tacos were delicious. Glad that hadn’t changed. Ambience also disappointing. Reserved fir our anniversary and we were put at a table in the back near kitchen and a large party.
