**A Culinary Experience at Wasabi Ames** Wasabi Ames offers a sleek, modern dining atmosphere where fresh sushi takes center stage. While the sushi rolls receive high praise for their quality and presentation, some dishes, like the Pad Thai and Korean bulgogi, have disappointed patrons with their lack of authentic flavor and spice. The attentive service, with thoughtful touches like water bowls for dogs, and a pleasant ambiance make it a viable choice for date nights and special occasions. However, diners may find portion sizes not commensurate with prices. Overall, Wasabi remains a go-to destination for sushi enthusiasts in Ames.

We hosted our daughter's 16th birthday party on a Saturday night with some of her friends, and everything went wonderfully. The venue was perfect, the seating arrangements were comfortable, and the service was excellent. The food was also delicious. The only downside was the limited parking available on a busy Saturday night. View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Wasabi Ames:
This place is great for a date night. Dishes are aesthetically pleasing but the quantity/price ratio is bad. You don’t get a lot of food for how much you pay. Everything looks great on camera, tastes decent, but just not very filling. The atmosphereis really nice as well. View all feedback.
Fresh, great tasting sushi. Love the Teriyaki chicken . Lots of good gluten free options. Very attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommend this place. Been to the one in Ankeny also, they are both great.
I don't eat sushi, so I can't speak to that, but my sesame chicken with broccoli was great. Prices were high though.
Ordered what was labeled as Korean bulgogi, it hardly tasted like it should. We have lived in both Korea and Japan for many years. There was no marinade. It was flat, no garlic, sesame seed nor oil, no sugar, and very little if any soy sauce. The beef quantity and quality was good, however. The pork dumplings were not hot and the rice was not hot, tasty nor moist. The dining room was attractive. The restaurant closes at 9:30, one of the employees began to sweep and mop across from our table around 9:10. Another asked if we were watching TV. We were not so she turned it off. Our waitress was attentive but surprised our concerns were not brought to the managing attendant. We were excited by the reviews and the extensive menu. Sad, but it was a disappoinment.
This is the best sushi bar in Ames. It is sleek and clean and very modern. The food is fantastic and the service is great. I was very satisfied with the quality of the sushi rolls and the drinks were also awesome. Anytime I’m in Ames and want sushi thisis where I will go.
