Boulder Tap House - Ames

This place is often busy, which makes me feel like my order gets slightly mixed up every time. Overall, the service, food, and atmosphere are decent—not terrible, but nothing outstanding either. Food rating: 4/5.

I visited this restaurant based on a recommendation from an Illinois State University alum and fan. I ordered the cheddar cheese curds, which were a fun square shape and surprisingly light. We also had the buffalo wings, but they were just average. We’re a bit particular since we love smoked wings, and these tasted like typical wings you’d find anywhere. However, their shakes are fantastic, and they offer an impressive beer selection. I tried the build-your-own burger, which was a lot of fun. There are plenty of great menu options that I look forward to trying on my next visit, as well as some appealing daily specials!

It's a typical sports bar vibe. I'd recommend mainly sticking to the burgers. I tried the Philly cheesesteak once, and it was a pretty unusual interpretation. This seems to be a trend with a lot of the creative dishes I've sampled. On the bright side, they do have some tasty hard milkshakes.

Came in with my fiance seemed fine at first but then this turned into a 15min wait just to see our waiter asking us what we would like to drink. I was a bit upset by that wait so I let her know we are actually ready to order. My fiance and I ordered our drinks and our food. Here's where it gets quite bad. Anywhere you go, what do you think of when the menu says triple cheeseburger. Your most likely like me picturing 3 burgers with cheese between Buns. No, it's a gimmick. You get this small single patty with 3 cheeses swirled together ontop. I'm a 256lb powerlifter male. This made me cackle out loud when they dropped the plate on the table and I mentioned to them I thought it is a triple cheeseburger. And he said it is. There is 3 cheeses on the burger. Okay you got me for 15 bucks. This is besides the fact it was 50 minutes later by the time we got our food and only seen our waiter 1 time where she dropped off a refill for my fiance and someone else brought me a refill. 38 dollars for 2 small patties and some mediocre fries and a serious wait. I then believe maybe my food was tampered with because I had a slightly sore throat and was on the toilet that night and most the morning this morning. Very upset. Do not recommend this place

I am highly disappointed! We came for a family dinner and said that we had 6 people. The waitress was taking us to a table but then turned us around just to turn us around again and take us to a high top. Me and my daughter are pretty short and I had my 9 year old. We asked for different table and she said it would be 20 min, I said that's fine. We waited what seemed longer than 20 min just to see them sit a party of 5, we had six. The waitress told the hostess we had 8. We sat and got drinks and I got a peach lemonade which had black fibers 2 different times. I will not come back, Dublin Bay has better burgers!
