Staff /server very knowledgeable and recommended dishes. However is extremely overpriced, disappointing that we were charged over 6 euro for bread tomato dip !!! In many restaurants bread is an accompaniment served free! Equally were charged for vegetable accompaniment with main course of sole, which was was 22 euro .. bit much that fish alone was 22 then veg added extra then fries extra !!! Had enjoyable evening but value for money was poor. Very overpriced.

Has the prices gone up maybe yeah , has the food and menu changed maybe a bit yeah . Are the staff all different and change of owners yes they are . Question is will I go back and the answer is yes I will Always come back here . I understand not everything’s perfect , but it’s el cranc an Altea institution still going strong . So it has to be a 5/5 .

My guest... read more Awful from start to finish. Arrived when it was quiet around 8pm. Miserable staff. Asked for recommendations and waiter pointed to most expensive fish. My guests had chicken and chips wow was as dry as a nomads flip flop. My gosh came with 0 accompaniments and was soaked in oil that tasted 5 days old. Atmosphere was no existent and waiters were slow and not helpful. Such a sad experience despite being recommended. Walked out and €60 euros for 1 course and a bit of bread, stumbled across a bar opposite which had a band and menu del noches for €15 euros and looked far far nicer. For first visit to Altea very disappointed. Manager has his favourites for sure and favours the locals. Since found some lovely places for a 1/2 the price. They prey on tourists and use their location.

Although once the phone went through,... read more Nobody was answering the phone although I was calling during restaurant opening hours and my message was totally ignored. Although once the phone went through, I didn’t even manage to say hello, because they hung up the phone. We arrived in the evening when the restaurant has just opened, and they already said that everything was booked and there were customers only at one table, did I mention that the tables didn’t even have a reserved sign on top? They answered very rude and asked us if we even speak English, which was completely out of place. When I told them that I tried to call all day to reserve a table, they found lame excuses and continued to be rude.. we are sorry that we wasted the time to bother going there.
