The main warm dishes are schnitzel,... read more We stopped by needing a break from the highway and it’s boring restaurants. Lovely city, and we were pleased to sit outside. The main warm dishes are schnitzel, and the 3 types we tried were excellent (they had 10-12 types all ranging between 11-13 EUR). I had the one with mushroom sauce, and it was super nice. And my 9-year old had fried potatoes and a fried egg for 4 EUR. We will definitely stop by here next time. Fast and efficient service when we where there at 3pm.

When I pointed out that I hadn't even had anything yet she took my drink order again, along with my food order. The drink arrived in another 5 minutes or so and after 45 minutes with still no food in sight, I paid for the drink (she was confused about what I was even paying for! and left for the Kartoffelsack restaurant across the square that managed to serve me everything in 10 minutes flat. I recommend you just start there...

Luckily we arrived just before closing, which was quite early in the evening. The service and food was very good, Kartoffel Puffers coated in Ham and cheese and my old favourite Jägerschnitzel with mushroom sauce and fries. Both were with a salad which was fresh and tasty.

Located directly on the market, it offers a number of exhibitors for consistently warm kitchens and various offers. Parking is a bit of luck even in a minute walk (seconds) near the market, because the free first 30 minutes are certainly not enough for a lunch. At the entrance, the market café offers itself as a very large, bright room with warm colors, with different tables and benches. The first impression is that only the escalator is missing in a relatively empty department store. We were looking for a nice bank on the way to the café. The wall behind us is decorated with various photographs of famous personalities who have visited this house and various testimonies. The service came to our table and we quickly ordered drinks and a homemade potato cream soup as an appetizer for me to study the map in peace. For my wife fried chicken breast with tomatoes basil sauce, for me the shredded ham, champignons and cheese baked Scavenger Wallis . Drinks and also fore soup came relatively fast. However, the announced homemade potato cream soup has very disappointed my expectations. She was okay, but not anymore. Very watery and without taste. Too bad. The main foods exceeded expectations. But first came the small salad plates. Freshly prepared, appealing, delicious. Shortly afterwards followed chicken breast and Schinitzel Wallis. Pommes well managed and tasty at both dishes. The sprinkled Valais tastes at home, fried in the pan and baked with fresh mushrooms. Bravo! (and again we remember the canned mushrooms recently on a pizza at a place where we really did not expect it) Friteusen Schnitzel with standard sauce I can no longer see! Also the fried chicken breast delicious and juicy tasting. Really good. In this respect, the non-speaking potato cream soup falls only slightly into weight and we still give a good taste for today's lunch, because ok is then too little considering the main course! If we go to Alsfeld for shopping, we would like to visit the market café again.
