Reviews summary
The restaurant landscape for this establishment has proven to be tumultuous, with mixed opinions from patrons. Some customers lament the closure, suggesting it may stem from inconsistent food quality and service, such as improperly prepared dishes and unresponsive staff. Conversely, many loyal fans celebrate its distinct flavors and welcoming atmosphere, highlighting standout menu items like Bulgogi and Kung Pao chicken. While the cleanliness and fast service are commendable, there are concerns about rising prices and ingredient ratios. This restaurant is a hidden gem in the area. The food is delicious and you can really taste the flavors; it's not just your typical Chinese or Asian cuisine. The customer service is top-notch and the staff is very friendly. Don't miss out on trying their Bulgogi and Galbi, along with their other menu items. I can't understand why anyone would give this place less than 5 stars. View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Yen Ching Express:
it looks as if these locations are closed. we will probably be a good thing as they fight to get the dinge right and tasty. they would tell you we can't do this, or why would you add chicken or chicken, we have set a lot wrong the times when they understood it correctly were right. not sure about the conditions close to, but if they stroll the reviews, it could give them an idea why. they just did not seem to care be... It seems that this restaurant has closed down. This may be for the best, as they often had trouble getting their dishes right. They would refuse to make certain modifications or additions to dishes, and when they did, they often got it wrong. However, when they did get it right, it was good. It's unclear why they closed, but reading the reviews might give you an idea. It seems like they stopped caring. Best wishes, Yen Cheng.
This meal was poorly prepared and seasoned, and some of the dishes seemed to have been made with low-quality ingredients. The overall experience was disappointing and I would not dine here again.
DISGUSTING CHINESE TAKE OUT Our order: Pot sticker, egg rolls, beef and broccoli, chicken pad Thai, and sweet and sour chicken. I don 't have enough space to type or time to write how very bad the food was. Waste of a meal, money, and time. The Pad Thai was minimally sauced and unrecognizable (I still don 't know what it was) with slippery chicken, burnt scrambled eggs, and thin cut up little noodles (it was inedible) with a few plops of old and canned veg on the top with a slice of lime (I really tried to like it because I was hungry) I just didn 't eat! This was just the worst of the bad. Side note: CLEARLY most and I 'm saying most of the good reviews were written by the same family.
The teriyaki chicken was the worst, with some weird gravy. The rice was tasteless.
This place has been my go to for many years now, and I am saddened by the fact that I am no longer able to go there due to my current location. Excellent fried rice, and I have been very impressed in the past with their mongolian beef and kung pao chicken. That all said, in recent times the prices have been going up, and the vegetable to meat ratio has been something to the order of 10:1. It is quite disappointing, especially given how good what is there is. I have noticed that some other reviewers have commented on the frequency of them answering the phone. This is something that I have also experienced, but it has almost always been resolved by calling again within five or so minutes. All in all, great little Chinese joint, just wish they were a little more generous with the chicken and beef.

This restaurant has the best food! I remember reading a review that mentioned small portions, but I completely disagree. I always have leftovers when I eat here.
The food was hot and fresh, I can't deny that, which is why I gave it one star. However, the food was awful as there was a hair inside my potstickers, which was a huge turn-off. I would not recommend this place for Chinese food. Since moving to Lake in the Hills recently, I believe this restaurant should be shut down. The taste is not good for Chinese food and I would advise against going there unless you want to eat hot, unpleasant food.
I ordered the Bulgogi bowl and it was served piping hot, fresh, and packed with flavor! It was served with rice, yellow radish, and kimchi, all of which were absolutely delicious. I also tried their almond cookies which were fresh, crispy, and incredibly tasty.

I love eating, chicken roasting and Mongolian beef are the best in the area. Would recommend anyone looking for good Chinese food.
Great place, fasts service, good food. The owner? (guy who is there every time that does the cooking and works the register) is very nice, always has a smile and a joke. Clean seating for eat in. Lunch special is a good deal. Happy loyal customer here. Chicken Subgum is never a bad choice for some veggies.
I have been in IL for a year and a half now. I have tried several Chinese restaurants in Crystal Lake area and they weren’t good. I couldn’t find any place like home until I came here. This place is the best I mean best Chinese spot I have been too. And they have fried chicken wings which has been hard to come by too
