Reviews - Giordano's
Reviews summary
Giordano's offers an impressive deep dish pizza that patrons rave about for its savory sauce and generous toppings. However, several customers noted significant shortcomings in service, describing a counter-ordering process, lack of waitstaff, and a rundown atmosphere. While some appreciated the friendly staff and unique slice sizes, others felt their dining experience was affected by operational issues, such as missing order items and a lack of ambiance. Despite these challenges, the delicious pizza tends to leave a lasting positive impression, making many hopeful for improvements on their next visit.
Was JC Brindley at Giordano's a mag?
I went for a medium deep dish pizza and a family meal of spaghetti and meatballs. Unfortunately, DoorDash and Giordano's forgot the spaghetti and meatballs, so I had to call the restaurant and ended up picking up the missing item myself. They were about to close, so I’m grateful they could still prepare the entree for us, but I would have preferred not to have to go out when I expected a delivery.
On the bright side... View all feedback.
What Rockouthard dislikes about Giordano's:
I waited 20 minutes just to place my order, and the staff didn't seem to understand the register. When we finally received our mozzarella triangles, they were overcooked and completely lacked cheese. The other locations are much better; I would recommend avoiding this one. View all feedback.

They were about to close, so I’m grateful they could still prepare the entree for us, but I would have preferred not to have to go out when I expected a delivery. On the bright side, the food was delicious and just what we needed. The lesson learned here is to go for carryout and double-check your order at pickup!
This place does need to close their doors. They can’t afford servers or drinks. We were a party of 7 and had to write down our own order and take it up to the register and read it off to them. And pay in advance!!!The service was non-existent.Gas station soda bottles and gas to request a pitcher of water, which they brought out with 2 glasses rest of us had to use solo cups. RidiculousWe won’t be back to this location!!
The deep dish pizza is really good but the only thing about this location is that a giordano's pizza the costumers have to go and order at the counter and pay in advance it's my first time experiencing this at a giordano's location that I know of all the location's of giordano's I've been to its not the same as here that you order at the counter to pay in advance service I give it a 2 star its not the servers fault but of how the location is managed that's how they want to take care of there costumers that's fine but at least place a sign to let costumers know of what to expect on service, the atmosphere I gave it a 2 star is like so sad and depressing no music to make you feel welcoming ,no sound just 2 tvs on .this place could be a better place if you just change the atmosphere a little and take care of your costumers at their tables .my final is I would come back because the pizza was good everything else I know yous could get better on it .
Just bad luck. I went to the one branch that the pizza oven had broken. So no pizza!! and I asked for red wine, and they had no red wine!!! I have been Jonezing for this since LA and I was really bummed out, but I will try again in a different place tomorrow. Not leaving Chicago without eating stuffed pizza!
I want to write you about an experience I had recently with 2 locations on 3/24/2024. Before I do that, I want you to know that I have been a life long fan of Giordano’s deep-dish pizza since I first visited the Oak Park, Illinois location in 1988. My parents and siblings became huge fans of the food and ambiance at this location and subsequently became regulars, going at least 2 times a month. I have subsequently been going to Giordano’s for pizza throughout high school, college and as a married father of 3 wonderful children.I have had some concerns about the Giordano’s located at 1505 S Randall Rd. Algonquin, IL for some time as I’d, on numerous previous visits had found the cleanliness and service standards to be inadequate. Not withstanding and feeling really nostalgic we decided to go to this same location for dinner. When we arrived, we were met by the host and were advised that we could pick a booth and also that due to a staffing shortage, would need to return to the service counter to put in our order. We sat down and checked the menu and I walked to the service counter to put in our order. I was told that, in addition to the staff shortage, there was only Budweiser beer in bottles (and no other beer available) and that the drink fountain was not working and that we would be served in plastic bottles. After some consternation, I paid for the order and sat at the booth. It was shortly thereafter; I advised the young man to cancel our order as we would be departing. The manager arrived and inquired as to why we were canceling and I advised him that I was unhappy due to the staff shortage as well as the lack of beer options and soft drinks. The manager advised me that he would be serving us and that the staff shortage should not be a concern. I advised him that I was not comfortable paying full-service prices for a sub-par experience. I was provided a receipt for my refund and subsequently left for the next location. We arrived at the 320 S Randall Rd. South Elgin, IL location at approximately 7:15 pm. The server was glad to sit us but advised us that we would not be able to order a deep-dish pizza as the location was closing at 8:00 pm. Having no other option and having exhausted all my family’s patience we agreed to sit and order a pizza and some appetizers. At around 7:20 pm, while we were checking the menu I noticed that the server was taking an order and that the order included a deep-dish pizza. I called the young man over and asked him why, if he was about to put their order in for a deep-dish pizza, he couldn’t do it for us? The server became agitated and reminded us that he had advised us that we would not be able to order a deep-dish pizza prior to sitting us. I again asked what the difference would be if he put our order in along with the other table’s. After advising me that the table had come in before me and that that was the reason he was putting their order in, he relented and told us that he would make an exception. Still dissatisfied with the horrible experience at the Algonquin location and finding no measure of satisfaction at the South Elgin location we again, were forced to abandon our dinner.I worked in the service industry for a long time through high school and college and have never seen a customer told he couldn’t order anything off the menu because they would be closing soon. It was always my experience that if a table arrived 10 or even 5 minutes before closing, they would be welcomed and provided the same level of service as if they’d arrived during the dinner rush. My observations of the Algonquin lead me to believe that the location is suffering and has been suffering financially for quite some time. I wonder if the staff shortage is the result of poor management? I also conclude that the service that we received at the South Elgin location was the result of an over-zealous staff that did not want to be at the restaurant too much longer after close. In both instances myself and my family suffered at the hands of Giordano’s.

A cheese and a sausage ordered deep dish. Both were delicious! Sauce is very savory and they are very generous with the ingredients. We liked mainly how to cut the pizza, so there were a variety of different sizes of slices! Sometimes you don't always want a big slice, so it was really refreshing that someone finally changed the normal one size, fits all portion size. Both pizzas were made in this way, so we knew that this was the new pattern Giordano 's chosen to adapt. Thank you for finally breaking the shape of Giordano! Will definitely be back!
I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional pizza and great service at this restaurant. I visited with a group of nearly 30 people and Big George went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic dining experience.
I hope this review reaches the management of Giordano's in Algonquin. I am very disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere was not welcoming.
The restaurant's hours of operation are subject to frequent changes. The staff lacks friendliness and the manager was unhelpful when a mistake was made with our order. The error was not rectified or reimbursed, leading us to have to dispute the charge with our credit card company.
I was told that I couldn't come to Chicago and get pizza in Giordanos, and now I see why. That was amazing. I LOVE Pizza, but even I was full of a slice of deep dishes. Loved the atmosphere and the friendly, knowledgeable staff. Easy order. There is a wait because it is made to order, but definitely worth it. Great things take time, right? And that was really great. I'm looking forward to having it again.
