My friend invited me to lunch at a restaurant I usually just walk past, but she highly recommended it. She was absolutely right! Since we arrived after the lunch rush, the place was pleasantly uncrowded, creating a calm and relaxed atmosphere.
The margaritas are delicious, and most of the food is quite tasty as well. The portions are a good size. I often choose the daily specials, and I really enjoy the skillet plates. It's a great spot to grab an early drink too. While the service isn't outstanding, it’s generally satisfactory.
I ordered a chicken breakfast skillet with three eggs cooked over medium. Unfortunately, all of the eggs were overcooked—each yolk was completely hard. Two of the eggs had obviously broken during cooking, and the pieces were scraped on top of the skillet. There was barely a quarter cup of potatoes, but a good amount of chicken. The potatoes were cubed, which was disappointing because they used to serve delicious sliced skillet potatoes in the past. I suspect the potatoes might be prepackaged as well. The green chile sauce was decent, and the chicken was okay. The staff was fine, but I have been a loyal customer of this neighborhood restaurant for over 25 years. I stopped going because of the inconsistency in quality, flavor, and ingredients at a place I used to love. I decided to give them another chance, but it turned out to be the wrong decision.
Lovely place. Came into Albuquerque for travel, and we decided to go here after getting checked into our motel since it was only 6 minutes away. Despite staff calling in, leaving only two waiters for the entire restaurant that night, we loved the food somuch we went back for breakfast the next day! And we are no strangers to New Mexico or Mexican food/cooking! And even withonly two wait staff, the only issue resulting from it was increased wait times. Because of the great food and more thanreasonable prices, this restaurant was a highlight for sure.
We have been long time patrons of this restaurant....we came in today with our son who is 16. We sat in the lounge area as we have always done when eating here. We were informed that we had to move to the restaurant area which is boring....we have nevereaten in the restaurant area. According to New Mexico state law regarding minors in lounge areas...it is permitted. Minors cannot sit at the actual bar. But are able to sit in the lounge area at a table. We came in to eat dinner....this is a ridiculousrule of apparently only this restaurant. I would suggest the owners consider changing their policy as they will lose long timepatrons. We love the food here but being treated like this will not be tolerated. What difference did it make whether we sat inthe lounge area or the restaurant area. They served a beer anyway. ????
