Was Anonym at Wong-derful a mag?
The best spot in Adelaide! Absolutely amazing. The spring onion oil noodles were a bit too straightforward for my taste. My friend suggested that next time we should just order as many grilled buns as we can eat. View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Wong-derful:
Tasty food, decent price, quick service. However, service was abrupt and borderline rude when we weren't quite ready to order. Overall environment could do with a deep clean as the table felt sticky even after it had been wiped over. Floors and seating looking a bit worn and needing a little freshening up. View all feedback.
When i heard that this place has reopened on Gouger Street i was very excited because i have tried their dumplings before and always thought that they are delicious! So i went there to have dinner with my partner tonight and we had one of the worst experiences. The staff who served us was so rude and inattentive. There wasn't any greeting when we arrived, the staff just threw the menu on our table and walked away and when they came to take the order they even had food in their mouth and did not speak a word to us. To be honest, we think that the dumplings are amazing but we would never want to go back here because of the service that we had and I recommend for anyone who wants to try their dumplings... GET THEM TO GO because the staff's rudeness is not worth your time!
I expected alot.. like way alot.. i thought the food would be great but its a big let down.. it would have been nice if the staff were actually friendly while taking your order bcuz everytime we order something she keeps saying "we dont have that" and make faces.. well why dont you just close your store!
My mother and I were very curious about this place because of their big soup wontons, as they are very famous in Shanghai and a great Chinese dish to enjoy, we were very excited to hear that it was in Adelaide. We ordered a couple of other dishes to try as well. The giant soup wonton itself was mediocre and while we still enjoyed it nevertheless, it was a little more disappointing for me as I may have had high expectations for it. The wonton soup was just a huge disappointment. I can easily make a better dish at home myself if this is how they are going to serve their food. The soup broth was tasteless and the dumplings were served in pieces as it arrived making the bowl of what could have been a nice hot wonton soup very unappetizing. The pan friend dumplings were quite nice and it was probably my favourite dish we had that day. The staff who served us was not very friendly, inattentive and seemed to have an attitude where she couldn't be bothered with having us dine there. I don't think I will be coming back here unfortunately, unless they take the initiative to improve some things.
I went to their new restaurant. The waitress pointed to the table we should be seated at.On the table was a silver metal device that had sugar, chilli oils, and 2 other liquids? It was covered in oil and sugar granules and finger prints.I asked the waitress if we could have another one.She looked shocked so I had to point out to her it was filthy. She then said they are all like that.I pointed to the next table and said that there was a clean one over there, she told me if I wanted it I could get it myself. Then I ordered my food.Dumplings that were crab pork but nothing resembled crab or pork,it was just a stinking fishy smelly fluid.I ordered curry beef vermicelli where the photo had nice slices of beef. When my beef curry arrived it had not 1 slice of beef.I called the waitress and she said that it's just a beef flavoured soup.I showed her the photo in the menu and she reluctantly brought me 2 miniscule slithers of beef. The staff are the most disgusting waiting staff I've ever experienced. The food that I ordered was revolting. The owner has spent so much on this new cafe and it is a waste of money .
BEST PLACE FOR SHENGJIANBAO!!! I think it reopened on Gouger now, so the address should be changed. Hey, I was grown up in Shanghai and this place totally exceeded my expectation for Shanghai street food! They don’t do lots of things, but everything they make is up to the top standard. During my years in Adelaide, this restaurant was like THE PLACE to go when I miss Shanghai street food. For those complaining about only Wonton no Shuijiao—— There is no shuijiao in Shanghai culture, only Wonton, okay?! I also enjoyed 咸豆浆, totally Shanghai style. Now I live in Sydney, but I never had equal taste in any Sydney restaurant. Wish they had a branch in Sydney Eastwood!!!
