What User doesn't like about Backyard Cafe:
The cafe is located in a lovely extension to the museum replacing the earlier attempts that never seemed to quite connect with anything. The food is adequate for a tourist venue and the staff are friendly. Save wasted hours trying to ring ahead to reserve a table because the phone number you will find is the museum and they bureaucrats are unable to connect you to anything. I went to this restaurant with my visiting family after a tiring but enjoyable trip to the museum. It's a great place to relax and is very kid-friendly. The service was good and our meals arrived promptly. We liked the food, but it would have been nice to see some more affordable options on the menu, as most dishes were quite expensive. This doesn't seem to cater to all of the museum's visitors. The coffee could also have been hotter. Overall, I would suggest this place for brunch with kids.
Had lovely coffee and cake during our visit. Every table has a lovely view over the lake. Well worth taking a break there.
This cafe does fabulous breakfasts, good value for money and staff very friendly. The setting is delightful too !
